“Management/owners worth their weight in Gold”

I will make this a quick review. The hotel was very comfortable, clean and the food was great. The location was also very good with a walk down to the beach.

Unfortunately, we had an incident that marred our stay (we were on a family weekend with inlaws and nieces and nephews) and without going into too much detail it did involve a member of staff that did not live up to the standards we expect when staying somewhere and this caused a lot of anguish and disappointment.

Thankfully the hotels General Manager and owner stepped in to help and lets say, they rectified the situation! The only reason we have given it 3 stars is because of this incident otherwise we would have rated it higher. The GM and owner took the incident by the scruff of the neck and resolved the issue. Needless to say, the member of staff is no longer there and we have been assisted all the way by the management. Hats off to them!

Its good to know that we are still in an age where the owners of large hotels take a personal interest in their guests.

Thanks to all concerned.

Stayed for three nights in a family room, located round the side of the hotel. Was clean and adequate as is the case in many 2/3 star places. It was difficult to sleep because it was SO HOT in the room,a fan was provided, but it was fighting a losing battle. The hot water supply pipe ran alongside the room wall,so was constantly on.Buffet breakfast was good,as was the hotel service. The bar/garden area was nice to have a quiet drink, and the food there was good and sensibly priced as well.

Room Tip: Front facing, you might get some air!

I have nothing but praise to heap on this value for money , well appointed hotel.
Every member of staff I came into contact with was polite and helpful, the room was clean, with all the usual facilities you would expect to find. The room service meals were excellent value for money and beautifully presented and the breakfast experience was also very good. As it is what is called a 'budget' hotel, I wasn't sure what to expect, but as a seasoned traveler, it definitely exceeded all expectations! The beach is literally a minute away from the hotel and the town center a 5 minute walk so it is excellently situated. My only regret is that my short stay didn't allow time for a dip in the pool or to indulge in any of the treatments on offer at the spa, but I WILL be back !

Thank you for your excellent review! We do hope that you will return to the Queens and take advantage of the pool/spa facilities. We are very proud of our location being so close to the beach and a short walk from the town centre. It does make for a very convenient hotel and our refurbishment is receiving lots of great reviews. Thank you again and see you soon!

I will start with the positive, although struggling to find anything other than the location, which is excellent for the beach. We used the pool and it was very warm, but seems like the heating has now been cut. Changing rooms small and reasonably clean, with a better standard of cleanliness than the rooms. Towels were not freely available, you have to ask at Reception and they are small, I asked for two and needed to insist to get two towels.
Rooms are shabby, outdated, noisy and not particularly clean. We has a suite, which had two tiny double beds, a sofa and a couple of chairs. I tried to change the room to a king sized bed with a single or roll out, but was told all the rooms have these tiny double beds. We had a part sea view and overlooked the bins at another hotel. The passing people traffic can be heard inside the room, so they can also hear you in your room, outside in the corridor. (We checked)

We were on the top floor and shocked when we went to see friends in a standard room. The carpets were disgusting, windows dirty and propped open with a brick on the landing, our windows were dirty with all mould around the frames, but these were worse with 1970's aluminium and the room was like a black hole!

The hotel is desperately in need of total refurbishment and needs an awful lot money spending on it to bring it up to a reasonable standard.

Unless, you can get an extremely cheap deal, then avoid and opt for something like the Premier inn, so you know what you are getting.

Feedback on recent reviews from the hotel, says they are in the process of refurbishment, so please read on, as my review is from last year, we paid the full rate and are discerning customers.

Firstly I would like to point out that I think it's very unfair of you and TripAdvisor to allow a review like this to be written so long since your actual stay at the hotel. It's exactly a year ago and should not be seen as a review worth reading. I urge Trip Advisor to look into this and to retract this review. We have had a large amount of the hotel refurbished and none of the things mentioned in this review are correct. I will be seeking advice from Trip Advisor to remove this review.

Stayed at this hotel twice now this month (business); both Sunday nights. Although parts of the hotel are looking a bit tired, this hotel has been great value for money in comparison costs with hotels nearby.
The first Sunday we stayed we booked Dinner, Bed & Breakfast.
Dinner was OK, if you do not want to walk down into the town to find a restaurant. The menu was quite small but varied for what we needed.
Buffet breakfast on both stays was not so good, hot buffet was mostly lukewarm, no mushrooms, no black pudding!!
There are additional items on both evening and breakfast menu at a supplement; the salmon looked lovely at breakfast (other guests)
Tea, Coffee all self service from large flasks so left to go cold.
All Staff at the hotel are lovely, very welcoming and it seems nothing is too much trouble.
We had the same room on both occasions, mainly because we knew the window opened fully because the security catch was broken; there is no air conditioning and with the lovely weather we've had the hotel is very warm.
The 3rd floor room was OK, a little tired, but very clean and the bed was very comfy.
There is a lovely bar area, which leads out into a small garden; lovely when the weather is good although take some mozzy repellent because there are a lot of trees surrounding the garden.

A party of us stayed at the hotel for my daughter's wedding in July. We all enjoyed our stay. Queries were dealt with immediately. The experience was made all the better by the level of service, especially Susan and Ollie in the restaurant. We would like to thank all the staff and would recommend this hotel.
