Description: Gilbey's Restaurant in Bournemouth is situated in the Liston Hotel which is two minutes from the Cliff Top Gardens in Boscombe Spa. The large open restaurant with polished oak floor and wall murals of Edwardian days on the pier compliments the cosy bar and entrance hall with original features dating back to the turn of the century. Our food is modern English/French with some influences from the rest of the World. We haven't been to Gilbey's for quite a while and decided to return to celebrate a birthday with another couple. We were welcomed pleasantly and enjoyed delicious canapes whilst ordering our food. Spoilt for choice (but we are not fussy eaters!) we all chose seared scallops and fillet steak in Madeira sauce. The food was delicious, and the steaks were cooked perfectly. We did all chose different desserts, and were all pleased with our choices. The waiting staff were very good and although we were the last to leave we did not feel at all rushed. We were very pleased that we went to Gilbey's and will definitely go again. The only reason for choosing 'Very Good' rather than 'Excellent' was that we felt the starter portion was very small.

Last Sunday my husband and I enjoyed the most wonderful Sunday Lunch at Gilbeys. This was our first visit and we were most impressed! From the moment we arrived we received exemplary attention; all the staff were of smart appearance and gave wonderful service. The table linen was immaculate and the cutlery highly polished. We thoroughly enjoyed our cheese souffle entree, roast rib of beef with fabulous selection of vegetables and rounded off our lunch with a delicious creme brulee. We cannot fault the food or service but were disappointed to note that a couple of guests were allowed to bring their dog into the bar area where it continued to yelp and cause an unwelcome disturbance. Non the less we would be happy to recommend Gilbeys to others and will return soon to further explore the menu

I recently arranged my companies' Summer Lunch at Gilbeys and what an experience it was. To have our welcome drinks in the beautiful gardens, and then to be shown to a beautifully light and well decorated room for lunch.
The canapés were delicious and what followed was three courses of exceptional food. The lamb dish was tender, the chicken was roasted to perfection.
Out of the 30-odd of our party there was not one complaint. Everyone was thrilled with the polite staff, the delicious food and the ambience. We retired after lunch for a few more drinks in the garden, and our only regret was that we had to leave to catch the train back to London.
Id recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting value for money, attentive service and quality food.

Went to Gilbeys to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Chose it entirely due to great reviews on Trip Adviser. Have to say I was rather disappointed with the restaurant itself - it's joined on to an old-fashioned small hotel in the middle of Boscombe (not one I'd fancy staying in!). After approaching the restaurant through the fusty hotel we wondered what it would be like, and actually it was fine. We had a pleasant time with very nice food, presented beautifully and served by lovely staff. We were offered a seat in the dowdy-looking bar area to peruse the menus but chose to sit in the garden. This was much nicer - a pretty space with lots of flowers and white fairy lights. However, the garden is over-looked by a few blocks of flats (not the nicest looking) and it seemed a slightly strange place to have come for our meal. The decor of the restaurant was slightly strange too - murals of people along the walls etc. That said the service and food were very good indeed - we just couldn't shake off the odd feeling of being in a tired hotel. So if location, architecture, interior design etc are important factors in choosing a restaurant then I would discourage you from dining here. However if you're after good food and service at a reasonable price (3 courses for £35) then this is worth a try.

We visited Gilbeys after reading the reviews on trip advisor and we weren't disappointed , we were greeted by very friendly staff and seated in the bar area , we were served drinks and canapés which were lovely whilst we browsed the menu.

Once we had chosen and the table was ready we were shown into the restaurant , from the starter to dessert was exceptional, service was excellent and our ever need was catered for , a nice touch was seeing and speaking to the chef.

All in al a great evening good food a solid 9/10
