We stayed at Smithfield Place for 3 nights and it was simply superb. The host was charming and could'nt have been more helpful or welcoming. The breakfast was delicious and there was so much choice including homemade fishcakes!. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable with wonderful extras that made you feel like you were in a 5 star hotel. We will certainly be going back.

This B&B is a total gem. Valarie makes you so so welcome and is the perfect host. The bedroom is sumptuous with beautiful everything - 5 star hotel quality. The breakfasts are out of this world. In all our travels there is never a breakfast to beat Valarie's. You almost want to keep the place a secret as it is so good.

We have just spent four days at Smithfield Place and it is without doubt the most luxurious bed and breakfast establishment we have ever stayed at. If you are going to Bournemouth looking for sun and sand then this is not the place for you, but if you want the most comfortable stay for amazing value then book. Very soon. I think this would be a wonderful place for a romantic weekend. Valerie pays amazing attention to detail and her standards are incredibly high. The breakfasts are beautifully cooked and so substantial that we never ate all day until around seven in the evening, and even then could have survived by consuming all the lovely things left in our room. Six packets of crisps, a dozen chocolate bars and a filled fruit bowl plus loads of drinks would have been enough. Never mind the nuts, biscuits and bottles of wine.

Smithfield Place was chosen because of the proximity to our daughter's house and it is truly a magnificent find. We will be returning at least annually.

Room Tip: We had the room with the larger bed and my very substantial husband caused absolutely no creaks - it...

Simply the true B&B at its best, with a special attention to details. The room and bathroom are cozy and super-clean and with more than you might wish to have: teas, wines, fresh fruit. Breakfast was sumptuous. Still, with a home atmosphere. The owner is a perfect host and helped me in any need I had, in addition to being a lovely person to talk to. One of the best B&B I have ever been in my life.

Loved staying here in early December for a couple of nights. Valerie is an excellent host and ensures that you have everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed the wine and nibbles supplied in the room and the excellent breakfasts. We'd love to come back again and would recommend Smithfield to anyone who wants pampered nights away.

So, what better way to start the day than on a hearty full English breakfast, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or even delicious homemade salmon fish cakes served with poached eggs, accompanied with fresh fruits, cereals, yoghurts and fresh breads.
