“Very helpful staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2013

We picked this hotel based on a report from a previous guest who also needed somewhere providing gluten free meals. The staff were very helpful on arrival and confirmed what suitable food was on offer both for breakfast and evening meal. The room was very basic without many modern facilities, but was fine for our one night stay. The walls are a bit thin, but these issues were more than made up for by the views, service and friendliness. Great deal on the evening meal and it always makes a difference to our stays when we don't have to explain in detail what gluten free means.

Dear Christopherber

Delighted to learn of your enjoyable stay at the Cottonwood. We very much pride ourselves on our guests dining experience and Gary, Executive Chef, and his team always try to accommodate any specific dietary requirements or requests from people if they fancy something different to what is on the menu's.

I do hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to the Cottonwood Boutique Hotel, perhaps a trip to Bournemouth over Christmas or the New Year? Food for thought perhaps.

I stayed here with my mum to attend a family wedding in the next door hotel - there were so many of us we spread over the two hotels. Although the room was a little small, it was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. My only complaint was that it was too hot in the whole hotel.
Fantastic sea view
We had a family meal the night before the wedding in the Cottonwood. The food was very good for the price although the house wine was a bit dodgy! The bar was very busy afterwards with our family catching up over a bevy or two and mixing with the family of the groom, but still the staff kept smiling and nothing was too much trouble.
Breakfast was great - hot and plentiful with good quality sausage and bacon. Service from the staff was again excellent.
Across both hotels staff service was always efficient, friendly and timely and the hotel next door (whose name I have forgotten) hosted for us all a big family breakfast on the day after the wedding, running late to accommodate us all and our hangovers!! Again, nothing seemed too much trouble and the service, like for the wedding the day before, was that of a much more expensive hotel.
Well done everyone.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view - well worth it (room 2 has a balcony with a door to really enjoy the view)

Dear Mim115

Wonderful to learn that you enjoyed your weekend at the Cottonwood. Thank you for your feedback and we are so pleased to learn that you enjoyed the wedding at the Ocean View Hotel next door.

I do hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you and your family back to the hotel in the near future, maybe you would like to celebrate Christmas in Bournemouth this year and bring your family to the Cottonwood for some wonderful food and great entertainment. Lots more information is available on our website.

Thank you once again. Best wishes.

We booked this Hotel through Laterooms.com the night before and we chose it above the others because of the good reviews. We managed to get the last room so we were not expecting anything fancy....but what a lovely room. It was very clean with a large bathroom with a great shower ( no drips here !). We had a room to sleep 3 one double and one single but wardrobe space to hang all the guests clothes. The Hotel was very nicely decorated and felt like it had just had a refurb. We did have breakfast which was very good, plenty of hot food and regularly stocked up by the very friendly staff. My son thought the toaster was amazing so we all had PLENTY of toast! I couldn't fault anything about the Hotel even the location was spot on, great views and in easy walking distance from both piers and Bournemouth centre. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: We didn't really have a choice but I would have loved a sea view.

Dear lisa r
Thank you for your comments on Trip Advisor and delighted that you enjoyed your stay at the Cottonwood.
A great room tip as it is well worth the extra for a sea view if they're available. From some of our rooms you can even see the sea from the bed, what a treat!
I do hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you to the hotel in the near future; we have a wonderful New Year package available; offering great food and superb entertainment. You'll find lots more information on our website if this sounds of interest or feel free to call the Events Team for more details.
With kind regards.

Enjoyed a break at the Cottonwood to celebrate my wife's birthday, the room while a little smaller than expected for a 'superior' room was spotlessly clean, with a big comfortable bed and a sea view, en suite bathroom was modern and well appointed. Service was excellent from friendly and welcoming staff. We did not get round to trying the Garden Restaurant for evening meals because we discovered Urban Reef in nearby Boscombe (see separate review) but breakfasts were good, buffet style but with attentive service from friendly waiting staff and afternoon tea out on the terrace was nice. It is an easy walk into the centre of Bournemouth
and parking at the hotel was fine.
Decor in the public areas is certainly out of the ordinary, (I absent mindedly said good morning to a coat of armour near reception on more than one occasion) We enjoyed our stay and would certainly make a return visit.

Dear Keith

Thank you for your feedback on Trip Advisor and delighted to learn that you enjoyed your stay. I think that is the first time I have heard of guests talking to one of our coats of armour, something you will remember your stay for I imagine.

I do hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to the Cottonwood in the near future. Do keep us in mind if you are thinking of enjoying a Christmas break by the coast, we have a wonderful Christmas Package on offer from £375.00. We went to a soul weekender but did not want to stay in the same hotel so looked for one close to the venue. Hence The Cottonwood. So pleased we did. Beautiful Hotel, with fantastic staff who were so helpful and accommodating, the room we were in was lovely clean basic but we did not go there to spend any time in the room. We ate in the restaurant both nights and were a bit anxious as we could have a 3 course meal with glass of wine for £20 per head but the food was delicious and once again the staff were brilliant. Breakfast was included in our deal and once again you could not fault this, plenty to chose from, not cheap food, tasty and very fresh. We holiday a couple of times a year and go to hotels 3 or 4 times a year and this would be in my top ten. Definitely would go back there again.

Room Tip: wish we had tried the sea view rooms as they look beautiful

Dear Wendy A

Delighted to learn that you enjoyed your stay with us and dined in the Garden Restaurant on both evenings. The Wine and Dine menu really is a great offer isn't it, with 2 courses and a glass of wine for just £14.95 and just an extra £3.50 for dessert.

Do keep us in mind when you are planning your next trip to Bournemouth, we have a wonderful 3 night Christmas package or 1 and 2 night breaks available over New Year. The coast is such a lovely place to visit over the winter months; particularly when there's an icy chill in the air and the sea is like a mill pond.

I do hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back in the near future.

A pleasure to welcome you back to the Cottonwood and I'm delighted that you had an enjoyable stay.

The cream teas are rather lovely aren't they, must say I do think adding a glass of fizz is a nice little treat! We've just launched our Christmas Cream Tea; proving to be very popular with seasonal sandwiches, mince pies, Christmas cake and a very lovely chocolate cake!

Thank you once again for your review, very much appreciated.

My parner and I had a fabulous night here just recently and will be most certainly be back again. A lovely hotel full of character and charm, with beautiful furnishings and accessories. We had a room with a view over looking the beach and it was just perfect for us. Just outside of the town centre, with a lovely walk and sea air it was nice and peaceful at night apart from the lapping of the sea. Just wonderfull.
