“Great Weekend at the Norfolk”
Reviewed 28 October 2011

Stayed at this hotel last weekend and had a great time. It was amazing value for money. I had bought a Woucher and we had a spacious room at he back of the hotel which was quiet at night. The dinner in the restaurant was lovely with many choices and breakfast was good. The hotel is vey central and there is plenty to see and do in and around Bornemouth. The only downside to this stay was the £12 carpark charge which is a bit excessive. Overall a great hotel which exceeded my expectations

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back of the hotel as the front of the hotel gets noisy at night due to a few ba...

My stay exceeded my expectations. The hotel is comfortable and the service is good. Easy to find off the main road with good parking.

I stayed at this hotel last weekend using a voucher for a one night stay with dinner and full breakfast. We had a large double room on the third floor 318. The bath/shower room was very spacious and spotless. It was a pleasant surprise to have a fridge as the last two hotels we stayed in did not have this amenity. The staff were very pleasant in all areas of the hotel. We had a bit of a wait once we ordered our meal and the waitress had to be reminded to bring our wine order. The alcohol is over priced we paid £10.70 for two glasses of house red. I agree that the parking fee of £12 is an excessive charge to hotel guests. My partner's request for vegetarian sausages and eggs cooked on both signs was responded to as a matter of course and was brought to our table without delay. Food i.e. breakfast a dinner was tasteful with appropriate portions. The hotel is 5 mins walk from the main shopping area and a further 10 minutes walk to the beach. We would definitely return to this hotel in the future.

Room Tip: Room 318 is on the third floor and overlooks the garden. Spacious double room with large/bath/showe...

Shocked to get hit with an £12 a day to park at the hotel.
We returned to hotel after show at the BIC to find we were locked out in the cold (It was only 11.20pm). After much hammering on the doors and ringing night bell we got in after 10 mins.
The TV in the room was a 10 -15 year old CRT TV which had frame collapse (every time the picture brightened up the image shrank). Rooms have no aircon. The conservatory dining room has been boxed in with partition walls to all sides, so it is now a windowless gloomy affair. We spent £146 to stay one night and did not feel it was good value for money.
The room also adjoined one of the noisy, creaking (and very slow\unreliable) lifts.

You could not get a closer hotel to the Centre of Town. The staff are welcoming and the rooms look like they have just been redone. bathrooms are fantastic. Food is excellent. I would highkly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Bournemouth and the prices are extremely reasonable.

Room Tip: go for the front of the builidng

Breakfast was excellent - the best we've had out of several short breaks recently in supposed 4 star hotels - likewise dinner on both evenings we stayed. The staff were friendly and helpful.

General decor is good and our Club room and bathroom were clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. I had requested a back room overlooking the garden as I know front rooms suffer from street noise.

The 2 negative points I would make is that with an hotel of this class at a seaside resort, one would expect air conditioning. Despite having the windows open all night, we were uncomfortably hot. Also, I was surprised to have to pay £12 per day for parking. As a resident, I would have expected it to have been either free or at a nominal rate (parking charges were not mentioned on the hotel's website).

Room Tip: always ask for back room as front ones are very noisy and ask whether any functions are on
