“Holiday for two and great for a family get together.”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

We have stayed at the hotel many times and will return the next time we visit Bournemouth. What more can one say? We choose to return because we like it. Sometimes we stay as a couple and sometimes we have booked the family in for a 'get together' on a special occasion. With fourteen of us in our party, including six children, we would not go to any other Bournemouth hotel. The hotel meets every need. The rooms are excellent and the food is delicious, the service in the restaurant is superb. The Grandchildren look forward to their visits to the hotel, they particularly enjoy a 'family swim' in the hotel pool prior to us all meeting up for dinner.

We had a great stay at Christmas and recently stayed for a birthday celebration. It was a busy weekend for us as there is lots do do in Bournemouth. We consider ourselves fortunate to have found such a great hotel and look forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: We prefer a room overlooking the garden.

From the greeting by the receptionist, to the room, to the food and for the facilities - everything was excellent.
# The staff are friendly, helpful and courteous.
# the food is simple but very well presented
# the rooms are clean, tidy and well maintained
# the lounge and bar are spacious and well appointed

Breakfast was a shock! Your eggs get cooked to order! Hot plates, freshly cooked ingredients. Kept me going all day!

We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights between Christmas and new year. The hotel is very easy to find, secure parking available and is in a brilliant location for shops/restaurants etc. Didn't have time to use it but the pool looked very nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was a bit dated but was spacious and clean. The hotel was a little more expensive than some of the others but the location justified the price.

This was our second visit using the Gold voucher offer. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help. We found the car parking convenient and we were only a couple of minutes walk to the main shopping area. The restaurant service, menu selection and food were excellent. We stayed in room 314 which was spacious, very clean and well equipped. Wifi was only available in the Hotel Lounge area which was disappointing. Our room on the top floor was very noisy due to the continuous whirling sound of the air-conditioning units on the roof! We will come back next year although we won't stay on the third floor.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor (third) are noisy.

A brief but lovely stay at a wonderful hotel. Food was fantastic, and the location was perfect but I will save my highest praise for the staff and management. Everyone was extremely helpful and happy to help with any enquiry or request. Never before have I stayed at a hotel where you are genuinely made to feel like a member if the family. Already looking forward to our next stay!!!

This is the 5th or 6th time we have stayed at this hotel. We went with some friends and it was their 1st experience of the Norfolk Royale. We had booked for 2 nights, dinner and breakfast.

After a quick check in, we went to our rooms which were very clean, spacious and well equipped. We had booked dinner for 7-15pm and the 3 course set menu (with 4 choices on each course) was again, superb and was complemented with a reasonable bottle of house wine. The service was quick and efficient on both nights.

Breakfast had vastly improved on a couple of the earlier stays we had a couple of years ago. It was a good choice buffet and my 2 poached eggs with the trimmings were cooked very well.

The kitchen, waiting staff were very courteous together with the duty managers and receptionists, who all made our stay very pleasant.

Our friends commented on how good the hotel was and all 4 of us enjoyed the Norfolk Royale. I know we will be returning again, hopefully later this year.

A special thank you goes to the General Manager, Rachel Painter-Scott, who had carefully organised a special treat for my wife’ birthday, when we stayed here in January this year. The dining room staff were under a bit of pressure (as it was very busy) on the 2nd night in February and unlike a lot of hotels we have stayed at, the General Manager, Rachel “mucked in” and helped out serving the meals. So thanks Rachel to you and all of your staff, in making our stay, another pleasant experience.

This was our third visit using the gold voucher offer that is available every year.
Check in staff were friendly efficient and helpful.
We stayed in room 304 which was clean roomy and well equipped apart from the lack of WiFi but there is a Lan cable if you have a mobile router.
Evening meal and breakfast was included in our deal and was well presented and of good quality.
One gripe I do have was that we were not offered a table in the main restaurant an were instead put in a room the other side of the reception area (there were 6 of us)
This was not a problem in the evening as the meal was full table service.
But at breakfast it was a problem as the staff tried to encourage you to have a set English breakfast rather than the buffet. If you wanted a buffet breakfast, which we did. You had to walk across reception with you breakfast!
Parking was expensive at £13 per day but in line with local prices , still does not excuse high price for residents
Bar had limited choice and was expensive, try one of the plentiful bars in town 5-10 minutes away
Would return but only on a special offer
