Staff are polite and helpful. The room was clean but the decor was a little tired.Could use freshening up.The only real gripe was the lack of water pressure in the morning but hey everybody was using it so is somewhat understandable.Just needs looking at.The pool.jacuzzi and sauna are excellent.Very handy for beach and shops.Would definitely recommend.

I recently stayed at the New Westcliff for a period in excess of a week and during this time met with the owner Paul who with his dedicated team, made me feel extremely welcome throughout my stay. For a 2 star hotel, the rooms were clean, tidy and very comfortable. I had full use of the facilities including the swimming pool/spa area, which considering, I was very impressed by. The toilets had recently been refurbished to an extremely modern and very high standard, and my understanding is that this will extend throughout the hotel. The owner, Paul, took the time to explain to me his vision for the hotel and demonstrated with passion the refurbishment program. Also, I must add that the quality of the food was very good. There are not many places that you can go where you can enjoy really good food, be made to feel very welcome, enjoy the pool and facilities and be comfortable. Just excellent value for money! Will, I go back? Definitely! Why? Because I am made to feel like a person and not just a room number.

Just returned from another excellent stay. Paul the owner has a passion for the place and is an ever present. Nothing is too much trouble and he ensures your stay is trouble free. His staff are charming and clearly dedicated to the hotel.
The place is spotless and the food excellent
There is clearly a plan to bring the hotel up todate and there have been a number of changes since our stay in May. All positive. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone. It is good value for money. Our room was a little on the small side but then we were a last minute booking and the hotel was full. We will be back again. M D Thomas . Banbury

Room Tip: Check about room size. Ask for a room in the main building.

Stayed 3 nights from 31 August, last time here in 2004. Read earlier review with apprehension. Ten tiles on two steps on main entrance steps broken, no rubbish, scaffolding around the rear of extension demonstrating a massive revamp. Two public toilets refurbished to high standard worthy five star hotel. Room comfortable, well equipped - a litte tired - bathroom adequate with good efficient shower; bed comfortable - no squeaks.
Staff all friendly and helpful, perhaps their English communication could be improved. All meals good, hot and well presented. Choice of menu especially good for a 2 star hotel.
Understand hotel came out of Administration last year and that the new owner is embarking on a massive refurbishment of the premises. Would certainly return again.

Room Tip: Front rooms face south south/ east, sun early in morning.

Our company uses this hotel 51 weeks of the year, and has done for the last 30 months, so feel I should write my opinions on here, especially after reading the FLEA PIT review a few weeks ago.
The hotel is slightly dated yes but is in the process of refurbishments this would explain the scaffolding round one buillding, quite how this can be regarded as a fault is anyones guess as how else can you repair or replace a roof ?
All the rooms I have stayed in have been of a good standard, clean and comfortable and my colleagues agree or would have sourced another hotel by now to stay in seeing as we are there more than home ! .
The staff are all friendly and helpful.
The food is very good with lots of choice and a different menu every day offering huge variety.
It does not claim to be 5 star all singing all dancing and I have met lots of people who are on returning visits so surely the hotel must be doing something right.
Overall a good hotel, close to the beach and town centre, good quality food and some very good entertainment in the evenings.

will return , next week and the next and the next !!!

We stayed in the New Westcliff for 3 nights from 29th August with our young daughter. We had a room on the top floor with what my daughter described as a "Princess Tower Room" attached to it through a small archway, she absolutely adored it. The staff were all friendly & helpful and we found the pool etc a great idea when the weather was not so good. We will definitely stay again
