Reviewed 25 February 2013

a so so hotel ,.... had a one night stay none of the staff can speak english tried to ask one person on the recpetion a question got met with a shrug of the shoulders .. not very responsive when u need to ask a question a very very average room could do witha revamp the whole hotel ... bits of plaster missing and paintwork to ... was put out the back but could hear the carpark .. walked into the room the window were left wide open with the heating left on full ... then just got into the room and had the chambermaid just wlak into the room knowiing full well id just got in there and asked who i was ,,,, not impressed as i was on the phone and to barge in withoutr knocking is very rude ... then asked rec for directions to a resturant near by if it was quicker to walk or take a car ... she didnt know where it was at it was round the corner ,,,,
breakfast was good and to help your self but scrambled eggs were very warterey and didnt like have to do your own toast as the machine u had to feed and it got stuck and burnt more than once and didnt have the time to wait for it and let me breakafst get cold ... the sauces were in genie style lamps in one place not sachets on tables very odd ,., so needless to say if u dont have to stay here dont .... then was packing my stuff away after breekkie ... 9.15am .. being in mind it was a saturday and sdidnt have to out the room till midday i had the cleaner bang on the door and come in twice askin me to hurry up in chech language as she wanted to clean it very rude ... not worth the money i paid

Room Tip: dont go to the back of the hotel as it evry noisy esp fri nights

It wasn't totally ghastly, but it's shabby, tired, tatty and in urgent need of renovation. It was useful to us as it was close to where a party we were invited to was. Staff were very laid back when it comes to customer service. Glad I only paid £40 for the night - anything more and I would have felt ripped off. Breakfast was lukewarm. The Premier Inn would offer much better value and quality of accomodation.

Dear Reviewer,
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to review the Hotel following your recent visit. I must apologise for the laid back serivce and luke warm breakfast. I can assure you that this is not the norm at the Carrington House.
I am glad you found the rate value for money and would add that we are currently undegoing a "TLC and facelift"excercise to address the decor issues you mentioned.
We look forward to welcoming you again in the future.

We stayed here for my Stag night. It is a nice value hotel, comfortable beds, clean. 1 member in our party on returning in early hours of morning had forgotten which room they were in but was assisted by a very helpful security guard! biggest selling point was good quality breakfast buffet (Needed after heavy night before!)

A good mid-range hotel offering clean comfortable accommodation at attractive and affordable prices (discount room rate for B+B), we arrived 24-27th December 2012 - Arrived late and a warm welcome was provided and our reservation confirmed and room 115 allocated - 3rd floor away from the lift and stairs as requested - south facing room to rear of hotel. Large room with twin bed en-sauite - evereything you could ask for warm, comfortable and ample space to omove around in. The room has Tea/coffee making, iron/trouser press, t.v/radio, room lights and bedside lights, bathroom had a bath/shower, toiler and sink, both rooms had windows and were both able to be opened and used as you liked, locks on both main bedroom door and bathroom, Beds were firm and comfortable (had a decent nights sleep). hot shower, pressure ok but could be better. Used the restuiarant for breakfast and an open plan buffet breakfast is available with a good choice of cerials, fruits, yogarts, cooked breakfast items and toast, jams, marmalade and tea/coffee. nice touch is the late breakfast til 10.30am at weekends and bank holidays. Staff were helpful. We had dinner on the 26th Dec. 12 in the main bar as the restaurant was closed and the choise although limited was good and food when it arrived was full of freshness and flavour and we would definately eat there again if we stay in bournemouth in the future - as we found thr hotel's location, services and faciliites all worth value for money. there are some areas of maintenance around the hotel and in the room that could do with a look at but nothing to distract from your stay - clean comfortable and value for money. ample parking (FREE) is available at the hotel, as are a guest swimming pool and childrens play area which we thought was a nice touch for families when it rains keeps the kids occupied. if your considering using the hotel on business there are ampple meeting and business facilites for both conference organisors and conference attendees. with private dining rooms and banquiting suites on site. we really couldnt complain for the price we paid and the service we received.

Room Tip: we asked for a quite room away from the stairs and lift and the staff were accommodating in our requ...

We stayed here overnight as part of a organised coach weekend to visit the local xmas markets.reception area was well presented then after that it went rapidly down hill!!! We were given a key card on the coach no instructions by staff of how to get to the room.when we arrived in the room it was like stepping back in the 70's decor was shabby to say the least.big holes in the flowery curtains, shabby and dirty blankets and I turned on the sick taps and brown water came out with grit!!! Towels were a dirty white and as thin as.we went down to the bar and to wait for five mins plus for someone to serve us ordered one large glass of rose wine and pint of beer which came to over nine pounds!!!! Table we sat at in the bar area was in need of a wipe and the chairs were grimey. Next was the included meal..mushroom rissotto was lacking in flavour and was served with sprouts potatoes and carrots gordon ramsey eat you're heart out!!! We didn't have a choice with the hotel that was picked but I would avoid this sad unhappy place.

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel

We booked a three night stay, bed and full English. The first two nights were very good, great breakfast apart from not having some items like scrambled egg unless you were prepared to wait 15 minutes. The third night was ok until we came down for breakfast at 8 o'clock. What we found was the resturant in darkness and reception with no one about. After calling out for a bit, someone appeared and was very surprised to see us to say the least. When I asked about breakfast he was stunned to find out that we had stayed the night in the hotel and told us that the hotel was actually closed for three days and he had no idea that we were in the building. This was a shock to us and raises some serious issues about safety. Needless to say we did not get the full English. They did make some effort to provide some breakfast items but not what we had paid for sadly. The staff apologised of course but thats not really good enough. I've emailed the parent group but surprise surprise, no response. Doubt well stay there again!

Room Tip: Check they are not closed during your stay
