“Highcliff Marriott”

From the moment we arrived we felt most welcome. Our room had a wonderful sea view. The room was a little dusty but otherwise nice and clean. My only complaint would be that at breakfast it got very congested around the self service area, and that is not really a complaint that deserves mentioning but it is the only negative I can think of. Well done Marriott and all your staff.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view on a high floor to get the best views. we were opposite the lift but did not hear...

This is a nice Hotel in a nice location. The room was small but had a nice seaview. It was very clean and nice bed. We had breakfast delivered to the room in the morning and it was excellent and on time. The portion size of the cooked breakfast was hugh and was a 10/10

We had dinner in the restaurant and we went for the set menu which was good but not excellent.
We could not park our car in the hotel car park as it was very small but did get a space out on the road.

Drinks at the bar are on the high side.

We rang the Highcliff Marriott after viewing an apartment we had booked and found smelly and inappropriate. They had a vacancy and gave us a price including parking and breakfast as requested. It is definitely a luxury hotel, ice delivered to the room, great room service food, and a brilliant unrelated thai restaurant downstairs. No problems extending our stay and even though the hotel was full the concierge found parking when required. Nothing was too hard for the staff.

Stayed for one night. Had to wait 15mins for a car parking space to become free as the car park was very busy (no other hotel parking around). Room was very disappointing, children’s biro scrawl all on the walls and some of the fixtures and fittings were falling off (handles etc.). Food was good but staff did not know the menu. Breakfast staff were too busy talking to tend the tables and seat guests. We were shown to a table and forgotten, no options for tea or coffee. Despite this the breakfast buffet food was good. We had to wait a while to check in due to a queue and front desk did not apologies for the wait. Concierge on the other hand were marvellous. Having stayed in a lot of hotels both in the UK and abroad this is not what you expect from a Marriot especially compared to one overseas. It’s simple things that are needed such as TLC to the rooms and polite and helpful staff. The hotel is certainly not 4* luxury..

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms next to the lift.

Stayed here for a weekend with colleagues in September. The location was great but my room was dire! Such a let down - smells from neighbouring restaurants, noise from the car park, the only view was that of the opposite wall which was only a few feet away. I couldn't even tell what the weather was like! Very disappointing given that I paid the same as guests with far nicer rooms.

Good gym facilities, lovely breakfast (but no yogurts!) and helpful friendly staff.

Room Tip: Don't get one in the Dorchester wing with a car park view!

Staff are extremely helpful and courteous and service is provided quickly bad to a high standard, everyone gets the VIP treatment. Hotel itself is very clean and well presented. Pools are both lovely, although sometimes the heating is not great for the indoor pool. Location fantastic.
