“Loved it - wonderful views, a peaceful and relaxing stay”
Reviewed 11 October 2010

It's an old building, but it has been refurbished to an extremely high standard - albeit with some creaky floorboards! It's our second visit here, and have enjoyed both stays at this hotel. This time we stayed in one of the cottages with a sea view - so comfy and relaxing, and spotlessly clean. The beds were wonderful, and we slept with the window open to the sound of the sea! Breakfast was excellent, with a good choice, and served hot and fresh. Hard to find any downsides at all - we came back relaxed and refreshed!

I booked an escape package for my boyfriends 30th and had a wonderful weekend. We stayed in one of the coast guards cottages, definitely worth paying a bit extra for one of these with a beautiful sea view beyond the lawn! We had a 3 course meal with wine and the staff couldn't have been more attentive. Food was delicious too! I would highly recommend!!

We usually stay at another hotel in Bournemouth but decided to treat ourselves for our 20th wedding anniversary - REALLY wish we hadn't bothered and gone to our usual 3 star. We paid for a sea view room, which when we arrived had a tiny window and a huge wall jutting out to the left so there was NO view in that direction. We went back to reception to complain and were changed to a room which was intended to be a "disabled" room which was much bigger and had two decent sized windows and an uninterrupted sea view. The beds at Marriott hotels are always a delight and this was no exception. Breakfast was varied and plentiful but the hot food was tepid at best and the queue for tables annoying. Sunday lunch was awful - the service was abysmal with our waiter not seeming to have a clue - we sat with dirty dishes in front of us for twenty minutes before I actually got up and cleared the table myself - we complained to the maitre d' who didn't even apologise - just said the waiter was new (so basically she wasn't interested and we felt like we were being told to sod off!!) I will never stay here again and frankly, with the vast choice of hotels in Bournemouth I recommend you don't either. Not a great advert for the usually fine Marriott brand. (You also have to pay for parking - rip off!!!)

Great Staff, super location, clean and tidy but a building particularly given it's location that would have been raised to the ground and redeveloped in most tourist centre’s…Is it a major problem well no, just quirky and old fashioned (bar nice new reception and shinny leisure club)…which leaves a feeling of being over priced for what is.

We love Marriott hotels. You know what you are going to get and they are a cut above lots. Never been disappointed and always confident of a great trip- even have a Marriott card- until Bournemouth. The room we booked was supposedly deluxe and with sea view. Sadly the size of the room was in no way deluxe. The paperwork said sitting area! A chair is not a sitting area in my view. Just enogh room to walk around the bed. So sadly now will seriously have to make more checks about room sizes etc when we book at Marriott a thing we never had to worry about until here. Rest of hotel was usual good standard but sadly the three nights were spoiled by the misrepresentation of the room. Funny how something like that can ruin your trip!!

Spent two nights here with my wife and teenage daughters. Good reception, able to alloocate two rooms close to each other. Able to park car on the road outside and avoid the £10 per night charge for the hotel's car park. Breakfast was excellent, particularly if you got a table in the main restaurant rather than the overflow room. Staff well trained and obliging. Somebody else's hair in two places in my bath. No hot water in our rooms on one morning. We were offered another room, or a trip to the health club, for a shower. Although a price reduction was not volunteered, they made a very fair offer on check out when I asked for one. Enjoyed the outdoor and indoor pools.

One of our two rooms was so small that there was just about room to walk round the bed and that was all. The other was slightly bigger but had a "blank wall" view. At least we were not overlooked! Despite the hotel being busy, with a wedding party in, we were not disturbed by corridor noise.

Stellar ocean views from the front facing rooms but views of the parking lot in others. We had a nice view in our jr suite, as well as downstairs in the lounge area. Breakfast buffet was very good aside from their inability to cook scrambled eggs, which unfortunately seems to be a UK wide phenomenon. / a function of my own tastes.. Bed was quite comfortable, as was the room. Bath tub was dangerously narrow. Granted I'm a big guy but I basically had to stand sideways and felt like I might fall when trying to turn around. I noticed this in other UK hotels and residences as well but this was the most noticeable. Overall I would definitely consider staying here again if I could get the view. Prices for the rooms without a view seem a bit high, and charging for wifi is not appreciated.
