Reviewed 28 August 2014

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights for around £220. The people there were very helpful and friendly, the food prices were reasonable (and from what we had, delicious), and our room was wonderful with no serious faults in it. It's also awesome how close it is to the beach. The only minor (probably even petty) thing that annoyed me was that the cleaner forgot to leave 2 spoons in our room on our second day, and only left 1. I also think it's a huge shame that they charge you for parking space. Apart from those, it's a lovely place I'd still recommend =)

Don't really know where to start on this hotel. We were met on arrival and told to sit in the bar until we could be dealt with. When the paper work arrived we were told sign here here and here and there is a £5.00 parking charge if you want to leave your car in the car park. Hmmm £100 per night room only thought that was just a little out of order. When we could finally get in the room because the key card was playing up we were more than a little upset. The only request was a double bed but instead we got 3 singles. Ok not ideal but we can live with that, on inspection there was not one wall in the room that was clean, the carpets were stained, one bed was broken so I could not sleep on it, the sheets were stained, we could not see through the nets, the windows were filthy and could only just see through them. When questioned about the bed situation I was told it's basically luck of the draw when you book on the internet. So let me sum this hotel up , filthy, dirty, not friendly and certainly not value for money we spent £105.00 to park the car and sleep on top of a very uncomfortable bed because of the state of the sheets. Please please please if you want a decent nights sleep in clean accommodation then avoid this hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid like the plague

Wasn't expecting much after reading the reviews but still booked a family room. A lovely stay at and very close to the beach. Staff were friendly and management was very accommodating. Room was adequate for a family room. We all felt that we were looked after very well. Breakfast was good. We had dinner in the restaurant and were very happy with the food and value too. Overall a good stay at Russell Court Hotel which is very well located.

Located a short walk from the main beach and pier it was a very handy location. The staff upon arrival were great. I had booked through a hotels.com, no issues and everything was very easy. Parking did cost £10 for the weekend but that was a fraction of what it costs elsewhere in Bournemouth to park that close to the beach.

Basic room, Shower and bathroom were fine, kettle and tv and wardrobe.

Great if you just want a basic room to use.

So, as most of the reviews for this place are pretty negative we really weren't expecting too much but were somehow still disappointed! We arrived just after 6pm on a Saturday evening to find only one very narrow parking space left which we just about managed to squeeze our average sized car in to. We then paid the £5 for parking (£10 for vans / estate cars!) and went to investigate our room on the third floor.

We'd booked a double / twin room and ended up with a 3 x single bed sea view room which I was initially quite pleased as the view was quite nice however the outsides of the windows were wet for most of our stay (it wasn't even raining!) so the view was somewhat obscured. All three single beds were extremely uncomfortable. The mattresses were all very springy and worn and amazingly £130 per night doesn't even get you duvets - we had some itchy brown blankets instead! There were top covers on each bed which looked like they'd come from the 70s and were heavily stained - needless to say the covers spent the night on the floor! The shower was pretty poor too and shampoo wasn't provided, only a bar of hand soap.

What upset me most was the way we were accused of not paying for car parking on our way back to the room after dinner. We had a very awkward conversation with the manager who claimed that we had taken back the £5 note we had given him when checking in! He tried to claim that he had seen us do it on CCTV but then went on to explain that the CCTV was too blurry to see (which was it?). We asked to see the CCTV but were told we couldn't. This was totally bizarre, who pays for something and then un-pays!? We suspect he had just misplaced the money. He made me feel very uncomfortable as he had made a lot of weird comments about my surname when we initially arrived. There's being friendly and then there's being over the top and he definitely crossed the line.

We checked out at 7am and were glad to be out of the place. We used the hotel purely as a place to crash ready to catch an early morning boat out of Swanage.

TIP: if you're looking for somewhere to eat, Funki Griller was excellent.

My fiance had booked to stay here for saturday 23rd august! We left within 2 hrs of arrival... This hotel is filthy... There is nothing nice to say about it at all! Mattresses on beds are worn to death with the springs sticking through.. bed linen was torn and stained...Grotty old blanket for a bed cover no duvet..stained worn carpets...dust and mold everywhere.. broken fixtures and fittings... spills of food and drink splattered up the walls.. everything was foul cheap and dirty.. Cost for 1 nights stay was £138.99 plus £5 to park. we had a refund of all monies and returned back to wales. (A complete waste of time and money) Please do not at anytime book this hotel...

Room Tip: Avoid this hell hole and book somewhere else. Horrid..

My daughter and I stayed for 1 night. I had read the reviews so knew it was going to be a palace. It's easy to find and a great position for the pier and the shops. It would be less busy is it was not where it was. We had to pay a fiver to park which was ok. The guy on reception was quite helpful and friendly. Our room was 215 and was fine large bathroom. Seperate dressing area to the bedroom which was ok with twin beds. The decor was ok. Rough round the edges but it was ok. For what we wanted it which was literally to sleep coming back in at 10.30 that night watched telly and slept. We didn't pay for breakfast as £12 is a rip of. You can walk down the road and the Harry Ramsden do breakfast for a fiver and you can sit and see the sea, much nicer. If you want to just crash somewhere for the night its ok.
