Yet again my stay here was pleasant and comfortable. If you're looking for a comfortable 'home-from-home' hotel stay with a family friendly atmosphere(children are welcomed), full cooked breakfast, staff that go the extra mile and seem to be jack of all trades, welcoming pillows on comfortable beds, with the addition of having it's own swimming pool, then The Elstead is waiting for you.
This was my second visit to The Elstead, and neither my friend or I were disappointed. The bar was available until late too! Thank you Team Elstead. See you again soon.

Room tip: Away from the city centre, so it's quiet and peaceful but you could; walk(20-25mins), bus or drive (6-8mins) into the centre and by the sea

We have been returned from a three night stay at The Elstead hotel well known to myself for many many years, the Graham still at the helm the staff all thrive to give a warm welcome and outstanding. The breakfast was very good and rooms as requested. Yes the building is old and needs TLC but is well maintained. We hope to return in the near future. Thank you one and all it would be unfair to name individuals.

we arrived early but were told room 105 was ready. It was in the old part of the hotel, with bay window and sunny room, decent size and heavy black out curtains. We didnt see anyone at all during our stay, except for the pleasant receptionists. No noise at all except for us creaking on the floorboards - nuisance if you need to get up in the night. Cant say the mattress was comfy, bit hard for us and we were glad we took our own pillows.

The shower was a waste of time, just didnt warm up. Lovely spacious room and nice tiling, fluffy bright white towels. we opted for a bath in the end but that took an age to reach a decent level - lots of hot water for that though.

Not as near to the centre as we hoped, but round the corner is a bus service 1A,1B, its regular and takes one into The Square. Get one back from there too, getting off at St Swithuns roundabout for the hotel.

Dining room looked pleasant, white tablecloths, but not serving evening meals. We didnt have breakfast as we wanted to lie in when given the chance, so cant comment on that.
Lift was handy if having heavy luggage - just takes 2 people. Lounge seating area looked welcoming, lots of red leather sofas and space to read. WiFi was perfect for us, as was the room tray coffee/tea/biscuits. TV small but okay when the two armchairs were pulled up.

We enjoyed the Aquarium and Brownsea island. Ferry runs from Poole with last one back at 5pm. Magic to see lots of red squirrels rushing about, very sunny day so we were lucky.

We booked this last minute for new year. It was convenient for the restaurant and casino which we had planned that evening . We booked 2 small doubles as we were only going to sleep in the room. But when we got to the rooms, one was a broom cupboard with a tiny bed and one was a standard with a king-size bed. Very tired. Found sock in bathroom. Wrappers under the bed. And the rooms were so so hot it gave us and our friends headaches where it was so hot. Only good thing was the bar staff member(only one working on a nye!!). Reception didn't apologise. Just said they would let housekeeping know. Shocking service.
