“lunch walk”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

On a recent stroll around Hengistbury decided to go the Hungry Hiker for a lite bite.
Being bank holiday there were a lot of people around but had no problem finding a table inside to sit. we had baguettes which once ordered by the counter were delivered to our table in no time (considering they were extremely busy). They were extremely fresh and sure all the other food available is as tasty as our lite lunch was. The tables are cleared quickly once one has left. Would definitely return there again.

“Beware the Starlings”
Reviewed 23 May 2013

I go here quite alot and really like it, for the location. The food is really good and the outdoor seating is excellent. You just have to be careful of the greedy birds who try to steal your food!

“Great walks abound and here's a bite when you are done”

Certainly good value but can be very busy. Enthusiastic and cheerful staff. Clean and tidy. Public pay car park adjacent. Good range of eats and drinks. Disabled easy access. Great walks in the area.

“Treat Yourself, Your Worth It, but only AFTER the Walk !”
Reviewed 9 February 2013

Hengistbury Head has been a regular favourite of ours for the past 30 years and if you haven't been there then you have missed a real treat ! Arrive at Hengistbury Head car park or find a place at the side of the road on the approach to it. There are several circular walking route options either on level ground or the more interesting path which takes you up over the spit where you have fabulous sea views out to the Isle of Wight in one direction, the famous Balloon in Bournemouth Gardens in another, the famous beach huts costings well over £100K in yet another as well as views down to Christchurch, Mudeford Quay etc - absolutely spectacular on a clear day. If you take the more hilly route over the spit, you drop down to the beach and the huts. You then can take a short boat trip to Mudeford Quay, or a train back to the starting position and the Hungry Hiker Cafe. The cafe has a wide range of food and drink available from snacks to more extensive breakfast options, lots of home made cakes and pastries etc - you MUST try this cafe but only if you have done the walk FIRST ! Ideal for friends, families, couples and dog owners.
