We found the staff at the Suncliff very welcoming. The restaurant and bar staff were always
Helpful and always smiling. The breakfast was lovely lots to choose from. Our room was very clean and a good size. To round up we had a great time at Suncliff and we will go back one day.

I stayed with a colleague on a business visit, the outside of the hotel looks quite impressive but the interior was very tired.

We were given rooms which were supposed to be double rooms, to say the rooms were small is an understatement, I had to move around the room sideways ( I am of slight build) as the furniture was two big, the chair for the dressing table could not be pulled out to sit down as the bed almost touched it. If two people were sharing this room it would have been impossible to move around. I would not have paid the money if I was with my husband. The rooms were clean and obviously had recently had a face lift.

We ate in the restaurant, the menu sounded nice but in reality it wasn't we ordered soup which tasted like packet soup, I ordered melon and feta cheese, there were ten tiny cubes of water melon which were more seeds than melon and four tiny squares of feta, disappointing. Main course was cod with new potatoes and vegetables, this was totally cold, we did not send it back as we were starving and the restaurant was full of holidaymakers on a coach trip and we didn't want to make a fuss, dessert we thought would be better, it was supposed to be treacle sponge and custard, this was a plain piece of cake with a drizzle of golden syrup and a drop of custard once again it was disappointing. The up side was the staff in the restaurant were excellent, they were efficient and friendly, they were wonderful with the holiday guests and made them all feel special.

The beds in the rooms felt like you were sleeping on a board, it appeared that there was no mattress support at all, I have stayed in countless hotels and have never had a bed as bad.

Cleanliness was good, staff great but beds and food were terrible.

Room Tip: Ask for a suite you might get a double

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments online,

I would always say if you are unhappy with your allocated room please come and see us at reception and we would do our best to show you an alternative. I apologise you felt the room was not an adequate size but I’m sure we could have helped if it was brought to our attention.

I am surprised about the comments regarding our food as we normally receive many positive comments in this area and the dishes we serve. I can guarantee that we do not use any pre packet soups and all dishes are freshly made. I have asked our long standing head chef to look into this and feedback to me his findings, we appreciate any comments that will help us better our product.

On a plus side I am glad to see our restaurant team made a good impression and look after you.

The housekeeping team are currently reviewing all beds room by room and we are looking to upgrade any beds we feel unsuitable so I am sure this will be picked up on in our audit.

Once again thank you for your comments

not the greatest hotel , but clean with nice facilities and shared facilities of the Cumberland next door ( outdoor pool ) saved the day
sport facilities good , squash and Table tennis available
both the room and the en suite bathroom were spotless and the staff very helpful and nice
lounge and shared area furniture need a refurb but other than that ok for a budget deal
if I see a groupon for the Suncliff , would go back
would have rated as good but didn't have option so went for very good !

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review on the Suncliff.

As a resort of three hotels next door to each other guests are more than welcome to share the facilities with in each hotel so I am glad to see you made full use of this.

From your comments we are looking to refurbish some of the lounge furniture once this summer season has passed so thank you for the feedback.

I am glad to see you will return to the hotel and best wishes for the summer

Had the most amazing stay for a couple of days recently and this was amazing value through a Groupon deal!
A friend and I stayed for £50 per night which included breakfast, an evening meal on the first day, a cream tea and free bottle of wine! We thought that this was great value but it became even better when we checked in.... We were put into a penthouse room with large balcony and stunning views over the bay. The size and quality of the room was most impressive.
We made use of the hoteli's indoor swimming poll and sauna.. Additionally the two adjacent hotels are in the same ownership and we were able to swim in their outdoor heated pools.
Al in all a great stay ... And the normal rate for the room we were allocated - at least £250 per night!

We enjoyed our stay as the weather was glorious. The hotel is quite nice but could do with a bit of updating. The staff are really good - helpful and charming. Our breakfast and lunch were very good but dinner was awful - I think the chef needs some retraining!

Thank you for your comments and I am glad to see overall you enjoyed your stay. We have now been graced with beautiful weather and there is no better place to be when the sun shines!

I have passed your comments to the head chef and asked him to review menu's and to double check all dishes leaving the kitchen, thank you for this feed back but I will say it is unusual to receive such comments.

My best wishes

The Suncliff is in a great location (About 15mins stroll along the front to town) and has fantastic sea views. We got a 2 night deal with included breakfast and 1 nights dinner for a good price and wasn't disappointed.

The decor is a little tired in area's, in good condition but dated. There are signs of investment, the bedroom we had clearly had received a face lift but the bathroom was still stuck in a time warp although clean.

The breakfast buffet and dinner were very good and the staff are friendly and helpful.

The Suncliff is part of 3 sister hotels (all next to each other) and you can use the facilities of all the hotels, which was great as it meant we had 2 outdoor and 1 indoor pool to make the most of and a spa.

Thank you for reviewing the Suncliff,

I am pleased to see you enjoyed your stay with us and hope you ill return to us in the future. We are always updating areas of the hotel including bedrooms and bathrooms and employee two full time maintenance / decorators. I would also say that we are a more traditional seaside hotel and are not looking to change the character of the Suncliff. I am also happy to see the staff made a good impression as I believe our customer focus is one of the most important aspects of a stay in a hotel.

Best wishes for the summer

just returned from our usual break at the suncliffe true it does need a bit of a facelift but we had a lovely holiday again the staff are very welcoming and always go out their way to make your stay has comfortable as possible .the hotel is very central and you are not too far from the public transport bus stops to all areas or if you like a nice stroll about a 20 minute walk to the piers. The restaurant manager jose is a lovely person and if you have a problem with anything just ask and it will be sorted no problem thats if you can find anything to complain about we certainy didnt the meals and buffet breakfast are superb. The hotel does seem to cater more for elderly clients but that suits us fine especially the coach trips lovely to meet up with Andrew again and we look forward to another break next year thankyou all . Roy & Val

Room Tip: the sea view rooms are lovely .

Dear regular guest, (Roy and Val)

Thank you for sharing your comments on the Suncliff with the TA community!

I truly believe that the current Suncliff team is the best it every has been from the restaurant to the reception desk and upstairs in housekeeping all the staff work very hard to ensure that the guests staying have an enjoyable break and as you pointed out if you need something or have an issue ask and a member of the team will bend over backwards to help.

I am really glad you enjoyed yet again another trip and look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Best wishes and Andrew shouts hello from the back office and thanks you for the support on FB!
