My family of 2 adults and 2 children stayed for 1 night in room 216. The family room was a very good size with a separate bunk bed room, and was light and airy with a bathroom accessed by both rooms. The decor in the bedrooms was dated and needs refreshing, and the lino in the bathroom needs replacing, but the rooms were all very clean, the shower was good, and the beds were comfy.
The Suncliff is in a great location on the sea front, a short stroll down to the pier, close to all local amenities and with good parking facilities. On arrival the hotel looked a little tired on the exterior but it's location made up for this. The staff on reception were friendly, welcoming and very helpful.
The hotel is spacious and has a large lounge / function area with comfy seating, and a relaxing feel. We ordered light meals from the bar menu and the food was very good and reasonable in price with the bar staff, again, friendly and welcoming. We used the leisure facilities (indoor pool at the Suncliff), which was very warm and provided seating in the pool area. The changing areas however, were unclean at the time we visited, and the floors needed a good wash down, so we returned to our room to shower after a swim. We could also use the outdoor pools in the adjoining hotels if we wanted to.
Breakfast was downstairs (lower ground), and the staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating. There was a great choice of food, and the standard of the cooked breakfast was good and tasty. The fruit options were also very good and of good quality. The room was warm, clean and bright.
We would not rule out a future visit, but feel the hotel would benefit from brightening up, especially in the lounge / bar area. It's large, comfortable and relaxing but the décor was dark, the paintwork was dark and the lighting was too low. Some light paintwork around the room would give it a much needed lift and rejuvenation - even on the upper half of the walls !
In summary, we would rate as above average as the hotel is in a great location, staff are to be commended for quality customer service, and public areas and bedrooms need brightening and lifting to make for an even better stay and a 'very good' rating.

I stayed in the hotel over bank holiday Monday with my daughters. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean, but definitely needed some up dating. We found our bedroom very hot even with windows open which made it hard to sleep. The water in the swimming pool appeared to be cloudy which I'm sure it wasn't supposed to be. Overall the suncliff is an 'OK' hotel. My daughters said it reminded them of an old peoples home, which I agree with. So maybe its a hotel suited to older people rather than families.

Still here but I must say this place is great.

Our stay at the hotel is very enjoyable, they offer a pool, sauna, gym, snooker table, and a bar that is open 24 hours.

It is a short walk to the beach, about 10 minutes and you will get a work out walking to and from the beach back to the hotel as you have to walk down a path that takes you down a cliff.

The rooms are tidy, and room service is great, we had a mixup with the room that we were given, but that was more a fault on our end. The manager came up to our room and apologised and it was sorted out. The customer service is great, you get the sense that they really care about the customer rather than the money. I would recommend this place to anyone.

We chose to include the breakfast in our meal, and is like any other breakfast buffet, again, the staff are very friendly.

On arrival, impressed with the location and the look of the hotel. There was plenty of parking. When inside very disappointed the hotel is dated and tired looking with lots of areas that needed fixing, redecorating and cleaning. The hotel was not very inviting, although the staff were friendly, welcoming and listened to our individual needs. We did not want to spend anytime in the restaurants or entertainment room, due to the look. The family room they had offered us had a shared balcony, great if we had the kids, but for a couple wknd def not wanting children running around outside our bedroom window. The 2nd small stuffy room they offered had a very small balcony and the room was not well cleaned. When walking through the hotel there were lots of dirty glasses and plates waiting to be collected. Again all the decore throughout the hotel was very dated and looked tired. The penthouse was much better, more modern, comfortable and a cleaner room, it has a large balcony with great sea views. although the wall paper was coming away and the shower was not great. We could hear the neighbouring rooms, ie TV and their conversations. No air con but the hotel provided us with electric fans.
On a positive The hotel was a lovely short walk to and from town. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, they did everything they could to make our stay as pleasurable as possible -showed us other rooms to pick from, gave us an upgrade to penthouse at a lower cost and free room service. The breakfast was lovely more enjoyable on the balcony over looking the fabulous sea views.
The pool was lovely and warm with a good seating area. The hotel staff made it very clear that we could use any of their sister hotel facilities if we wanted. The staff did a fantastic job making our stay enjoyable.

Room Tip: The PentHouse rooms are the better more modern rooms with great sea views.

Stayed with our friends May 16th - 19th May for a short break.

As we entered the hotel I was very disappointed. It appeared to be tired and needed upgrading, I had booked the weekend for our friends so felt a little worried in case it wasn't up to their standard.
The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful as the room they booked us into was so hot and stuffy next to the lift and noisy, I am claustrophobic so, it was far too small and poky, but as soon as my husband informed them of the situation they immediately offered us another room on the ground floor. That room wasn't very pretty or comfortable as there is no where to sit but on your bed, but it was clean and I was extremely grateful that they had no quibble changing us over, otherwise I would have left.

The dining room was lovely with a smashing breakfast eat as much as you like and again the staff were so pleasant and helpful.

Our friends had a very small room and it was like a sauna, in all fairness they told the reception and straight away they provided a fan for them,

Overall for the money we paid I am sure we could have had a better deal somewhere else. But we agreed that because it was clean and the food was good we enjoyed the weekend.

We booked a superior family room with a balcony and sea view. We got the sea view and balcony but the room was far from superior. Room 104, the patio door didn't lock. We have a 3 year old so safety is paramount. The cupboard isn't fixed to the wall, my 3 year old nearly pulled this on to himself. The bedside lamp and extractor fan didn't work. There was mould in the bathroom and cracking around the bath.

Facilities are basic and we would not return.

Breakfast - everything seemed under cooked with no colour.

Hotel in desperate need of modernisation!
