What can i say , other than its a stunning location and only a few mins walk to the beach. If we had gone by some of the reviews we wouldnt of booked, but as a party of nearly 200 people all i can say was, efficiant, polite, courtious, well run and nothing was ever too much trouble. Restaurant staff, could'nt of been better. The manager was very attentive.
Breakfast was amazing, and the overall quality of food was top quality.
Although the place does look a little sad, with a good paint job needing outside, inside you couldnt wish for better service, the rooms were clean, ample tea and coffee supplies, very spacious family room for 5. The pool was lovely and warm like a bath and kids didnt want to get out. Overall very satisfied, loved the location, loads to do. Highly recomended

the receptionist team were friendly efficient and helpful., On the evening the matra d was funny and engaging and made the evening go smoothly!
The pool ws delicious and the breakfast good, plentiful but it took a while for the porridge to arrive.
The gym was dirty and lacking any care it looked unloved when it could have been repainted and looking smal but stil inviting. Im a personal trainer so i enjoy a wel equipped and tidy gym.
I was disappointed to find that i wasnt offerd complimentary newspaper at either of the oceana hotels. THe Cumberland was better standard. The Sunclif room ws adequate but chilly and small.

Room Tip: go for cumberland hotel and pay for the evening meal before u arrive. Dont use the Cumberlands dine...

We had an enjoyable short stay and the hotel was very clean and welcoming. The staff were very good but the room was in desperate need of updating. The windows didn't fit properly and there was a continuous draft and on one window you could see daylight through the edges, it fitted so bad, and so the room was cold all the time. We asked for a heater, but it never did arrive. We also had to complain as the smell of foreign cigarettes - or cigars - was overpowering. Someone came and sprayed the room, but it didn't help as the next time we opened the door after being out for some time, the smell hit us, it was so bad, for the whole time we were there.

The beds were comfortable, but the duvet needed replacing, it was completely flat as though people had been sleeping on top of it, and as a result it wasn't warm.

The bathroom was sadly in need of updating, the bath was so high and so deep and so narrow that once you got in it was hard to get out, especially as we are older - but NOT incapacitated! The tiles on the wall were about 1970's and there were odd ones, in one place 2 sky blue ones, and in another place a white one in an otherwise flowery coloured layout of tiles. The hand basin was enormous, and took up a lot of space in a small bathroom. When you opened the door it almost hit the toilet seat, and a new more modern toilet and hand basin wouldn't have taken up so much space.

The food was plentiful and delicious, the car parking was also good and I would go there again, but hopefully not in that room! The wi-fi was excellent and we had no problems.

Room Tip: Rooms on top floor seem to be in better condition, more modern.

I travelled at the last minute to Bournemouth on Business. The Suncliff Bournemouth is my regular stop and has been for many years now. Friendly, clean, and very helpful staff. The pool has a very good appeal to it and is clean and clear. I had an enjoyable stay and lovely meals too, recommended for all. I managed to have some me time as well during my stay so got to enjoy the sites a little more.. Thank you to all the staff for making my stay fantastic in March...Even in the wettest of weather they will let me have extra towels and tea/milk...

My family of 2 adults and 2 children stayed for 1 night in room 216. The family room was a very good size with a separate bunk bed room, and was light and airy with a bathroom accessed by both rooms. The decor in the bedrooms was dated and needs refreshing, and the lino in the bathroom needs replacing, but the rooms were all very clean, the shower was good, and the beds were comfy.
The Suncliff is in a great location on the sea front, a short stroll down to the pier, close to all local amenities and with good parking facilities. On arrival the hotel looked a little tired on the exterior but it's location made up for this. The staff on reception were friendly, welcoming and very helpful.
The hotel is spacious and has a large lounge / function area with comfy seating, and a relaxing feel. We ordered light meals from the bar menu and the food was very good and reasonable in price with the bar staff, again, friendly and welcoming. We used the leisure facilities (indoor pool at the Suncliff), which was very warm and provided seating in the pool area. The changing areas however, were unclean at the time we visited, and the floors needed a good wash down, so we returned to our room to shower after a swim. We could also use the outdoor pools in the adjoining hotels if we wanted to.
Breakfast was downstairs (lower ground), and the staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating. There was a great choice of food, and the standard of the cooked breakfast was good and tasty. The fruit options were also very good and of good quality. The room was warm, clean and bright.
We would not rule out a future visit, but feel the hotel would benefit from brightening up, especially in the lounge / bar area. It's large, comfortable and relaxing but the décor was dark, the paintwork was dark and the lighting was too low. Some light paintwork around the room would give it a much needed lift and rejuvenation - even on the upper half of the walls !
In summary, we would rate as above average as the hotel is in a great location, staff are to be commended for quality customer service, and public areas and bedrooms need brightening and lifting to make for an even better stay and a 'very good' rating.

I stayed in the hotel over bank holiday Monday with my daughters. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean, but definitely needed some up dating. We found our bedroom very hot even with windows open which made it hard to sleep. The water in the swimming pool appeared to be cloudy which I'm sure it wasn't supposed to be. Overall the suncliff is an 'OK' hotel. My daughters said it reminded them of an old peoples home, which I agree with. So maybe its a hotel suited to older people rather than families.
