This hotel is ideal for one night stopovers. We caught the ferry next morning from Poole. The rooms are warm and comfotable. The staff are helpful and friendly. There is a small bar which serves bar food if you do not wish to go out.

Room Tip: We stayed in room one which is ground floor and quiet, but small. Upstairs is a bit of a rabbit warr...

We stayed at the Montague Hotel in a triple room so that my daughter could attend a university open day. We received a very warm welcome from Charlotte the receptionist / bar staff who later in the evening spent considerable time chatting with us leading to a very pleasant evening in the lounge bar. The hotel is small and personal which we liked. Our room was very clean and comfortable with a massive double bed. The third bed was a sofa bed, which was perfectly adequate. We ate at the hotel and although the menu was not extensive there was something for everyone and the quality of the food was excellent. The cooked breakfast was also excellent and set us up for the day. The hotel is set in a very leafy part of Bournemouth and is only a short walk from the sea front. All in all a very pleasant stay and I would definitely stay here again.

A typical Best Western hotel. Good value for money. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast could be better in that not always freshly cooked and it shows with eggs being hard or bacon being over cooked etc. left under warming lights is my guess. Single rooms a little small but adequate.

We stayed for 2 nights Saturday to Monday.Having stayed here in April, the Hotel was chosen again because of its location (easy walk to beach or Conference Centre and town centre). Arrived early and staff happy to look after our luggage while we headed off to visit family. Very friendly welcome and Hotel warm and clean.Room very spacious and large comfortable bed.Breakfast excellent. We also enjoyed happy hour( from 2pm till 7pm!) in the well stocked bar.We ate in one evening and the food was very nice and reasonably priced. As we weren't flying home till late on Monday the Hotel were happy to look after our bags and organise a taxi to station when we were ready.Charlotte and Anna we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Dear rsdandy - thank you for such a great 200th review on our hotel.
We couldn't ask for more from our guests when they leave us than that they thought we were a lovely hotel with lovely staff and that their stay was value for money. Thank you also for your comments on the cleanliness of the room and the food. When re-booking if you would like rooms 27 and 28 again all you have to do is ask.

We stayed for 2 nights mid week for my girlfriends birthday. Its positioned in a great location within walking distance from both the beach and town. The hotel is clean, affordable and the staff are very friendly.
I would recommend this hotel to friends and family however would advise on booking to demand not to stay in room 9. This room is next to the reception and immediately above the kitchen. We therefore could hear everything from people falling over in the reception area to the kitchen staff blasting out radio 1 breakfast at 06:45. This is no exaggeration.....you can hear everything!
The kitchen staff kept the radio down the following morning after complaining. However you are still woken by the general labour which goes on within a kitchen. But this wasnt so much the issue the second night in that we had what sounded to be kids running around in the room above us from 06:00. Once we managed to get back to sleep we then had drilling in a neighboring room from 08:40.
After the 2 nights we were quite exhausted. Such a shame.

Room Tip: Avoid room 9!
