Once again another thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Hermitage. All of the management and staff were extremely helpful and friendly, from housekeeping to reception, bar and restaurant. The food fully merits its AA award. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable.
We returned again 2 weeks later for the Bank Holiday weekend which was equally enjoyable. We know that we will be back again soon.

I would have liked to have awarded 5 stars for this Hotel as it is clear that it is run well from top to bottom and has many positives - especially for a 3 star Hotel. However, a couple of little niggles prevent me from doing so.

First the positives:
The Hotel is extremely clean.
The Hotel has it's own car park.
Staff & service are excellent.
Food both in the lounge bar & restaurant are of a high standard and beautifully presented and represent good value.
Location is great for beach & pier etc. but the downside at weekends is the interminal noise from the obligatory drunks that every town encourages these days. As the Hotel rooms don't have aircon, you either keep the windows open and have a restless night or close them and still have a restless night in stifling heat .This was during a not particularly hot spell of weather, so I would hate to think what it must be like when temperatures get above 20 odd degrees!

Now to the negatives:
I booked a "Family Superior" room for myself, partner & two young children, which cost £175 per night B&B. For this we actually got a standard Superior room with two portable single beds squashed in. So tight was our room for space that we could not open any drawers in the dresser or get to the wardrobe until we had moved some furniture around. Normally I would have complained and asked to be moved but I knew that the Hotel was fully booked so there was no point. My parents' Superior room was bigger than ours as it featured a bay window. This still wouldn't have accommodated two extra single beds any better.

Due to the noise from outside (see earlier comment) we decided to close the windows. Unfortunately, one of the windows would not close to as the plastic clips that secure the window were broken off. A little improvisation with folded paper rectified this but following on from the furniture arrangement, it wasn't a great start to our break.

The bathroom was OK but nothing like the one featured on the website and I do wonder how much these rooms differ from each other? Surely if guests are paying the same tariff they should expect the same level of accommodation?

I would highly recommend this Hotel for couples and a family with one child maximum - unless of course, some rooms are big enough to accommodate a family of four without compromising space!

Room Tip: Superior rooms (sea view) get very hot in the summer and rooms have no aircon

This Hotel was in a perfect location for an elderly lady to access the pier and gardens. Service was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, the evening meal was delicious and not oversized portions and best of all we were able to park for free all day including the day we were leaving. I have no hesitation in highly recommending this establishment.

Room Tip: A ground floor room was easily available and very quiet.

stayed here as we were seeing Lee Evans at the Bic, The hotel was fab, staff really helpful and welcoming. Our family room for 3 was spacious and very clean. Breakfast was a feast and staff always ready to top up coffee and tea. All in all this is the best B&B we've stayed in, cant fault it, Will definately return..

Prime position in Bournemouth, excellent service and spotlessly clean room. Simple but very tasteful interior. Can absolutely recommend it to family, friends and for business stays. The only disappointment was the breakfast. Totally unimaginative.

hotel is in great location and has parking, the hotel is spotless and the staff friendly. The room was smaller than what we are used to staying in and had no aircon however the view was great. The breakfast was lovely and really enjoyed it. Would stay here again as close to the beach and local amenities.
