This hotel has what should be a great location. Poor double glazing means that it is noisy, cheap furniture makes it feel like a poor bed and breakfast. Charming front desk staff and a bar man were let down by grumpy restaurant staff, serving very mediocre food from a restricted menu. the breakfast was nothing short of shocking with chaotic self service and repetitive piles of the same items. Also be aware that free toiletries are non existent, the towel is like sandpaper and you need to manually lock your door when you leave the room

Room Tip: Sacrifice the view and get one that doesn't overlook the prom/main road

So glad we decided to have a spontaneous weekend in Bournemouth and stay at The Hermitage. Not a modern hotel, the rather traditional decor and furnishings give it its own character. We found the particular strength of the hotel was the exceptional efficiency and friendly attitude of the staff. On arriving at the restaurant for dinner we found a very large function was in full swing and wondered if we would suffer because of this. Not a bit of it! A waiter promptly took our pre-dinner drink order and throughout the meal the service could not have been better. The quality of the food was superlative.

Our room was rather small but bed was very comfortable and everything spotless
Highly recommended.

The two night stay we had was excellent, the staff were extremely polite, the service was second to none, the cleanliness within the whole of the Hotel was spot on, the gentleman over looking all of the weekend celebrations was a delight, will most certainly consider stay with then again....spot on

My mother and I have recently stayed at The Hermitage for 5 nights. We have been staying here for many years. As usual the service was excellent ,the staff polite and helpful at all times , food top of the range and we would never consider staying any where else in Bournemouth .Our room which was on the ground floor was very spacious warm and comfortable . Cleanliness was superb. The hotel is well positioned and is close to the beach shops and entertainment. What more could any one wish for ? We hope to return here for many more years.

Room Tip: If ou are with a disabled or elderly person ground floor rooms are spacious and well equiped.

The service was excellent from the booking stage right through to leaving. It has a really traditional feel and in many ways just like going back in time. Breakfast was very good and my room was very comfortable. All the staff were very courteous and attentive.

Would hesitate to stay again.

Room Tip: I was lucky and asked for a sea view - well worth asking for an upgrade
