We were part of a small group booking for 2 nights. The room price was over £186 per night B&B. The room was about 9 ft x 14 ft, no air conditioning,no trouser press, no drink cabinet, the bathroom was so small if you put any towels on the rail you could not use the toilet (also not very hygienic). I was also asked to pay on arrival (first time ever at a hotel!), the car park is full with lots of double parking. This claims to be a 4 star hotel but I doubt that claim stands up to scrutiny. I complained and was refunded one night. Would strongly recommend trying a more modern well equipped hotel that really is 4 star but if you do stay avoid the compact rooms and the lower floors, if there a party in progress you will hear it. A great pity as the food had good reports and the staff were good.

Room tip: Avoid the compact rooms and the sea view rooms are over priced

Location is it's best feature as it is near town centre and the beach, but that is it pretty much. As for the four star rating, I would have to say I have stayed in far better three star hotels. Bar prices are four star if that helps as is the food....which was not a great success going by the food left uneaten on the plates when they were cleared away.

Breakfast was poor by any standards. The scrambled egg was runny and tasteless and the fried eggs were rubbery. My favourite is always black pudding but for some reason they put an unusual flavouring in it which was awful. Others that tried the black pudding thought the same.

The service at breakfast was terrible. My partner had to ask three times for tea before it arrived and when she asked for toast, was told to make her own as they were busy!!
The plates and cups were left piled up and the whole place badly run.

The reason for the three stars was mainly for the breakfast but also the very small room we had. It was dated, not particularly clean, basic with no fridge and so small. As a couple we would have expected a double or king-size bed but got twin beds.

I would like to give credit where it is due so firstly the guys at reception were very professional and helpful and Beth who was a trainee waitress did an excellent job.

Room tip: make sure when you book not to have a small room.

Extremely friendly staff, both from check-in to Restaurant and Bar; all very friendly. The room was very small, we had a good view over the sea; could do with a good window clean from the outside; other than that, the room was acceptable. Corridors are extremely small, two people can barely pass each other, one has to squeeze against the wall for the other to pass. Had some room service, and that turned out to be good food as well. The price for the room however was, in my opinion, at £ 200 a night very expensive. It might be worth to compare rates to some of the other Hotels in the area before booking this Hotel, there are some well known chains of branded Hotels nearby who offer better rates.

Room tip: Ask to see the room first, some rooms are extremely small

Stayed at the Hermitage on business this week. Booked a single room, and it certainly was that! Small room with no room for a desk / table, so don't go for one of these if you need to work! Staff were courteous and friendly, but it all feels a little dated. Breakfast was OK, couldn't rate it any higher than that.

There are better options if you need to stay in Bournemouth.

...couldn't fault the Hotel or staff.
A very pleasant weekend.
Despite booking an 'Inland' room we were delighted to be allocated a very spacious 'Superior' sea facing room on the second floor.
All staff were friendly and polite, demonstrating a level of competence that comes with aproppriate training and commitment.
Chris and Timea at Reception were exceptional, we were warmly welcomed on arrival and made to feel valued guests.
Breakfast was excellent, the first morning cooked to order, the second morning being a hot servery due to increased guest numbers.
Dinner on the first night was excellent with an allergy being catered for aproppriately.
The second evening we ate at 'Neo Restaurant' adjacent to the Hotel which was also commendable.
We look forward to returning in the very near future.
