Picked this Hotel purely on price & location (West Cliff)
On arrival able to park right outside the door.
Given a warm welcome & directed to our room.
First floor (used lift) very large with very high bright bay window. The room & large bathroom was very clean with good TV , tea & coffee & fresh clean bedding.
The breakfast was very good with extremely fast pleasant service.
In the evening we used the lounge bar (very reasonable prices) & could have had a game of snooker in the games room.
All the staff were particularly pleasant & eager to please.
The location is excellent 2 minutes to the green at the top of the cliffs & about 5 minutes to the lift down to the beach.
We will now become regular visitors.

Room Tip: It seems that all the rooms are a good size & there is a lift.

Dear Malcolm

Thank you so much for your positive feedback and generosity in your score and hotel comments.
Its a pleasure to have guests who do really appreciate the effort we put into running a business. All our staff are friendly and we ask them to help guests as much as possible, be polite, well mannered and courteous.

We have always had a great reputation in Bournemouth as being one of the best 2 Star Hotels (this is not arrogance) I have lived and worked in Bournemouth Hotels for 30 odd years and i know the good and the bad hotels.

We all appreciate your kind feedback and comments, the staff do read reviews and if we need to alter or change to make a guests stay more comfortable we will review guests comments and amend. Problem with today's society is People always look for the negative things and find fault, never the positive things they enjoyed in their stay.

So when we get guests who are totally positive and appreciate what the Ullswater is about its worth our efforts.

I thank you for your review. Hope to see you again soon

We booked in th the ullswater Hotel for the Bournemouth Air show 2018. We tryed to go half board but refused. The room had dust. Shower matt was falling apart with added black mold. The bed was not good.lumps from the springs. When I sent a message to booking. Com the hotel owner accused us of telling lies. And sent abusive messages via email. We paid £207.00 for the 2 nights. The manager said what do you expect for the price will never return and will not recommend.

I am absolutely astounded at this guest, He is telling blatant lies. The reason for this is because he tried to get compensation from the internet company he booked with who reputed is allegations and refused a refund. I have been in contact with this guest through phone calls, which he was quite abusive and rude. Also by e mail fully explaining the issues he has raised. it was certainly 100% not abusive at all (Total lies), this gentleman seems intent on getting revenge because he could not get his way.

1. He was not refused dinner at all. (it was fully explained to him) he knows the reason why.. but he still wants to make a drama
2. he has tried to make believe the room was full of dust. we have checked and again not true.
3. The shower mat had a rip in it admittedly, but again it was fully explained to this guest, we are waiting for replacement mats which have been delayed by the company we ordered off.
4. the bed has been again looked at and no issues were found.
5. The gentleman says he paid £207.00 for 2 nights, which he did on Airshow weekend, which was actually a very cheap price, compared to our competitors. His statement that the manager said what do you expect for the price is a full blatant lie. I have been in Management 35 years and i have never said this to a guest.

We take complaints very seriously and any issues raised we listen and try to rectify them as this makes our business more appealing to future guests.
When a guest arrives and tries to get their money for no good reason and then tells blatant lies to the internet company they book with and also Trip adviser just to get their money back, we have to draw the line. This guest sent an e mail complaint, which we responded to in a constructive way. There was certainly no abuse. if you look at this persons other reviews 7 are very poor and terrible and i see he tried to do a similar complaint with another hotel in Bournemouth, similar to this one, so he has done this before.

All our recent reviews have been constructive and positive and guests who praise the hotel. occasional you get the occasional one who tries to damage a hotels reputation because they cant get their way, sadly this is such a case.

Character hotel in a quiet area of Bournemouth within minutes of the town and sea.
Rooms large and clean.
Staff courteous, friendly and very obliging, with Marcus the manager adding a touch of dry humour.
Breakfast - good choice, well cooked and presented with excellent service. Dining area light, spacious and comfortable.
Highly recommended.

Thank you Graham for your kind review and high score.

All the staff appreciate the feedback and we are very happy that you enjoyed your stay at the Ullswater. we know you traveled far to come to the hotel and it was a very tiring journey. So we appreciate you taking time to review the hotel. We hope you had a pleasant and safe journey home traveling all that distance.

The hotel tries very hard in customer service, so when guests see the effort put in it makes it all worth while.

We hope to see you again soon. thank you for kind compliment, i am working on the humour

Hello Roy

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel, very kind of you.

We are extremely lucky to be in such a great location, close to beach/ town and all the facilities in Bournemouth. We have very nice and friendly staff who try their utmost to make a guest stay as comfortable as possible. We use the biggest linen company in the country who provide us with all the fresh, clean white linen. Guests do not realise that it costs £6.00 per room just for clean linen on departure. Laundry costs can be very high. I apologise for the room move, what ever the reason was, we hope it did not inconvenience you to much.

We do state many time and in all reviews, yes we are dated as it is an older building and the costs of modernisation today is astronomical, so we try to make the best of what we have and update as best we can when money is available. Car parking is always going to be a problem, not just for this hotel, but Bournemouth in general, although parking is limited, we do not charge on our main car park. a lot of hotels charge now.

Thank you for your review and hopefully see you again in the near future.

Don’t expect five star quality although the service is five star. The room was comfortable and quiet. There were tea and coffee making facilities in room and shampoo and soap. The bed and pillows were fine. Breakfast was great in fact. There was Wi-fi and a flat screen tv. I think that for a weekend in high season it represented great value for money. Laura and Alejandra on reception were attentive and kind. I loved the lift - don’t forget to shut the gate of the lift! It’s all basic but I didn’t need more. I would go back.

Thank you Christopher for your review

We are a 2 Star and we do not have 5 star surroundings as you quite correctly point out, we are a seaside Family hotel, that works on customer service and good food, The staff strive hard to please and keep customers happy.

We have a good breakfast and we do use quality ingredients, not inferior products like some others. We pay a little extra for branded products, it is worth it.

We have Wi-Fi again all throughout the hotel and we do not charge for it. unlike other hotels.

Yes the lift is a character lift, very old and very dated, 90 years old, but i have to say, its very reliable, very rarely breaks down. we love the lift to.

Thank you Christopher for your review and we are happy that you enjoyed your stay at the uLlswater
