“Nice place shame about the coach driver.”
Reviewed 3 June 2011

Having stayed here for 4 nights ( 23rd to 27th May) the bedroom was of a fair standard, quite roomy. The bathroom was dated with a shower over the bath, we had problems with the water draining away but it was fixed and normal showering resumed. The food was very good (the soup was a meal on it's own). The hotel staff we found to be very friendly, helpful and polite. I would give the hotel 3 plus stars. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the Shearings female coach driver, who spoke just once on the way down from Exhall interchange and was very unpleasant the whole time we were there. Shearings had sold 8 people the front 4 seats which caused problems. Having been on 8 different hotel breaks with Shearings this has to be the worst coach driver we have encountered. We spoke to other people staying at the hotel, on a coach from London, and they said she was miserable so if you get this coach driver from Exhall interchange take a good book with you ( I'm sure you won't get disturbed).

Thank you for your lovely comments regarding the hotel and the Savoy team, the chef will be pleased to know you enjoyed the food, which I have to agree as I find it delicious too! Sorry to hear about the coach driver, it is an unusual complaint as I have never had any complaints about her in the past. I am sure she will read your comments and feel very upset that she offended you in any way. I do hope to see you again; we are here with a smile waiting for your return sometime in the near future!

Third time I have stayed here and whilst the hotel is a little "tired" in places it is in an easy to get to location and represents good value. The staff especially in the restaurant are very helpful and efficient.Breakfast options are fine but the evening menu could do with a bit of inspiration. You can update on your room but if only staying for a short break not sure this is worth it.Would suggest a room on the 3rd/4th floor with garden/sea view as apart from the view they are quieter.

Room Tip: Would recommend 3rd/4th floor with garden/sea view

My partner and I stayed for a weekend at The Savoy in Bournemouth in March 2011.

The hotel position was perfect for access to the beach (just a 5 minute stroll) and the town centre.

Our room was lovely with a view over the gardens and beyond to the sea with a balcony, although March is not really the month to be out on the balcony it was still nice to stand out there with a coffee in the mornings.

The restaurant was spacious and the food choice was very good with a choice of 3 starters, mains and desserts.

We stayed in the hotel for the evening entertainment instead of walking into town and we were glad that we did with Saturday night being a Bee Gees Tribute band.

I could not fault this hotel in any way, the staff were very professional and helpful and the hotel itself was very clean, tidy and comfortable.

Thank you for such a wonderful review! I am really pleased that you found everything to your satisfaction – this means so much. Our tribute bands are very popular, the Bee Gees being no exception – we aim to have this type of entertainment on every Saturday from October through to May. I hope you will come and visit us again.

A lovely hotel in an ideal setting overlooking the sea front. We paid extra for a garden sea view room and though the furniture was old it was all very clean and we had a wonderful view of the garden and the sea beyond. You could choose the time you wanted for the evening meal and the food and service were very good. The lounge, which overlooked the garden was bright and airy and some entertainment was offered in the evenings. The hotel was a 10 minute walk to the town centre and from the bus stop at the back of the hotel you could catch the bus to the town or the other way to Sandbanks or Swanage. (No.50) Though we didn't have good weather we enjoyed our stay and would certainly book again.

Stayed on Friday and Saturday night. We had a seaview room, The room was basic but clean. The shower was lovely and the bath was huge. The room was always lovely and warm to the extent that we slept with the balcony doors open all night and woke up still warm. The down side of the room was the bed. I can officially say that it was the worst bed I have ever slept in, in my whole life. When you pulled the covers back the springs were crazy sticking out all over the place. When I laid down i ended up meeting my Husband in a heap in the middle of the bed where the middle of the mattress was so knackered!

The food was service station standard. The service was excellent. I had Pate the sweet and sour pork and cheese and biscuits the second night i had melon and pineapple, thai curry and chocolate torte. The starters and the puddings were fine The main was exactly like something i would expect from roadchef. The breakfast was fine again of a similar standard.

The average age is over 90 but we loved it anyway. Nice not to have screaming kids and be able to make polite conversation with anybody you met.

Lastly the parking was very, very tight so if you have anything bigger than a ford focus i suggest you take train

All in all a good experience however I can't rate this hotel higher due to the worst two nights sleep ever. I slept most of the way home in the car as it was more comfertable!

I am pleased that overall you found your experience of the hotel good and I do appreciate the very valuable comments you have made on the hotel, its facilities and services.
I am sorry that the bed and in particular the mattress in your room was so poor. We are roughly 80% through a full refurbishment programme. We do have some older sea view rooms and these should hopefully be redecorated over the next couple of years. In the meantime we are replacing the older beds now and have started to invest in mattress toppers to ensure that all our guests have a good night’s sleep.
Our menus are currently being looked at with a view to upgrading them. If you decide to return please let me know as I would love to have your feedback on the menus and I will endeavour to give you a new bed!

We went on our first party weekend with Shearings for £99. Although there were only a couple of other younger couples in the hotel, that didn`t bother us.
The hotel was lovely warm, clean and the food was really good. The staff were first rate and really helpful. We had free drinks on the Saturday night which amazed us - didn`t even have to pay for the bottles of coke for mixers! The entertainment was geared up to the majority - which was mainly 60`s music, but we did manage to have a dance or two to M people and Duffy!
Included in the price was a free trip to Salisbury, but we didn`t go on that because we wanted to walk rather than be on the coach all day again. We walked it into Poole along the promenade on a lovely sunny morning.
The older crowd of people were lovely, everyone was friendly and gave us loads of tips about which hotels are the best. I would recommend this hotel again - cannot beat it for £99 for 3 nights half board!
