Really friendly staff, the rooms where clean and modern.
The bar was very reasonable price wise and the atmosphere was great.
Good restaurants near by (check out Urban Reef) and of course the beach.
The hotel had its own private walk to the beach which goes through it's beautiful garden.
Great hotel for the money!

Having read previous reviews of this hotel, we were pleasantly surprised by the standard of accommodation, we were in the annexe but in a large sea-view room which was a bonus as we only paid for an inland room. The staff were very polite and helpful (none English-as expected) and the standard of the food at dinner was exceptionally high, portion size just right. We booked this hotel via travel zoo at a good price.

Room Tip: If staying in the annexe (west wing) ground floor rooms are noisy with outer doors banging, suggest...

Every member of staff throughout our stay was polite, pleasant, and attentive without being over the top. Their knowledge of the surrounding area was impressive when enquiring about where to go and what to see, and this includes those whose first language is not English. The room was a sea view, the window frame could have done with a touch of paint, but when it is facing the sea all that salt air is bound to have a detrimental effect. The hotel warrants more stars than already awarded. We also booked directly with the hotel and were given a "good deal" which was better than that quoted on a discount site.

Room Tip: Our room was 26 which was in the "west Wing", don't be put off by this it is well wort...

One in a small group of hotels including Sandbanks and the Haven. Although a similar price, this doesn't have the cool feel of the others we've visited. It's all a bit.... Ordinary. There's a fairly big outdoor pool which is the temperature of a hot bath, so impossible for proper swimming. Staff were ok, not brilliant. Food the same. Our riom was large, but on the ground floor in the annex and next to the front door which meant it was very noisy. The carpet was very stained. The sea is a five minute
stroll down a steep hill where there are a couple of nice restaurants with bars. All in all, not that impressed and won't be returning, unlike the Haven which we've been to several times.

I stayed at the Chine as I was on business and in the evening my wife and kids came to join me. I liked the atmosphere of the hotel but to be honest the family room we were in was pretty terrible. The decor was very poor especially in the bathroom and the beds were like sleeping on footpaths. I admire the nostalgia and love the atmosphere but as I say, the room was a let down.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view room. They look to be very much nicer than the ones at the back.

Just enjoyed the weekend at our daughter's wedding. The hotel is perfect and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Thanks to Karen and Alex who couldn't have done more. The wedding took place on the lawn then 80 of us shared a delicious wedding breakfast. We have been to the Chine several times and it never ceases to amaze me that they can deliver so many hot, delicious meals so efficiently. Fabulous! I don't understand why it isn't a five star hotel!

With a good weather forecast for a few days we decided to book an overnight stay last week to enjoy the outside pool. This we did, plus had a balcony sea view room which was very comfortable enabling us to have a very good night's sleep. On our arrival we went to the pool and had a swim and a laze around. When we checked out in the morning we went back to the pool and swam and lazed around again!!! There is a bar at the pool, plus very good changing facilities, towels provided. Also an indoor pool with further very good changing facilities too. The staff were very helpful, but all foreign and their command of English not that good. The hotel could do with a bit of tlc here and there.

Room Tip: Go for a balcony the size of the room is bigger.
