“Relaxing break”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 January 2014

We've just come back from a great weekend at the Chine. The room was comfortable and fairly quiet. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide choice suitable for nearly all tastes. The staff were friendly and efficient. We made good use of the hot tub, indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna. We ate in on the first night; while the standard of food was very good, the portions were a bit on the small side. All in all, a very enjoyable weekend which we hope to repeat in the not-too-distant future.

Room Tip: Away from the restaurant is quieter if they're having a function.

Delightful hotel. The staff were genuinely glad you were staying and nothing was too much trouble. Room 303 was a little dated but sea view was stunning. We was there for a few days end of Dec, I would like to go again in the summer to enjoy the beautiful gardens and views. Breakfast was lovely, but coffee not all that. Evening meal was perfect, sat by a window looking out to sea. The overall decor was clean and fresh, but the carpet on the stairs was was threadbare. I would recommend this hotel. 30 mins walk to Bournemouth town centre.

This was our second visit to the Chine, and again we were not disappointed. We find the service, value for money, atmosphere, comfort and location of this hotel - especially when booked through an Amazon Local deal exceptional.

Despite a few glitches (mainly as a result of a large Xmas party being held on the Saturday night of our stay - Sat 14th Dec) - which meant the kitchen was overwhelmed so service slow and we were kept awake by disco (until 1am) as our room was directly over the party, this remains one of our favourite weekend break destinations and we would go back and recommend it to others.

Needed an escape and got an amazon deal which we snapped up... Right now i am sitting in the cosy lounge area after a superb buffet dinner. We are half way through our short stay at the hotel and have been so impressed. Booked a two night special offer, and didn't expect this hotel to be of such fantastic high quality. Think we landed on our feet with this one! Everything is SUPERB, staff, gardens, restaurant, foyer, bar.. Location was a bonus as we usually stay in Bournemouth not Boscombe.. So glad we made the switch, its so much nicer! Will definitely return... Already set to get another amazon voucher to do it again in a few weeks! Can't wait!

Pleasantly surprised to welcomed into such a beautifully appointed hotel, given the reputation of the area. Had a very pleasant 2 night stay just before Christmas, and the presentation of the communal areas and the level of service from the staff made this feel almost like a 4-5* experience.
Standard Double room was extremely spacious and comfortable with a massive bed, and the bathroom was very large, warm and spotless.
Bar and Restaurant area were cosy with a nice ambience and good atmosphere, leading off from an elegant foyer. The outward passages towards the spa and pool could probably do with a bit of modernising, but beyond those the quaint grounds and gardens were pleasant to walk through on the 3 minute stroll which brings you straight onto the seafront by the pier.
The main thing I have to compliment though was the attitude of the staff. Without exception they were friendly, warm and went out of their way to assist with every little query - from the front desk, to the bar staff, to the porters, to housekeeping. Nothing was too much trouble. Had arranged for flowers, wine and a gift to be left in the room as a surprise for my partners birthday, and the reception staff were incredibly helpful and enthusiastic in helping with this. Another nice touch was the housekeeping staff after our first night, having seen the do not disturb sign displayed, called the room phone in the late afternoon to ask whether we wanted fresh towels and the room cleaned later that afternoon or evening if we were going out - rather than ignoring the sign and knocking on the door or still trying to enter, as happens so often - and that they would leave a note for the evening porters to do this if so.
As said above, the friendly and helpful service completed what was a very pleasant stay all round, and I would definitely stay again.
