“Biggest but NOT best !!!”
Reviewed 10 June 2014

Arrived on a rainy day with quite heavy wind. Parking was not too bad but then the wet walk to the shops. The pavement outside the shops has little cover and becomes very slippery when wet. (Be warned it's an accident waiting to happen).
I think Bournemouth has a lot to learn from other shopping malls who provide under cover parking. A visit to Lakeside and Bluewater show how it should be done.

“Shopping trip”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

Went to Castlepoint Bank holiday Monday, got there early so no problem parking, the good thing about it is free parking, the negative is not enough branded shops, also only one outside cafe,as it was a nice day it was nice to sit outside instead of in a shop,I think that was bad planning. It was mid afternoon when I left but still had to queue to get out,I think it would have been better with a dual carriageway, again not thought out.

“HOW NOT TO DESIGN A SHOPPING CENTRE”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

The worst design - and who ever decided for the council that this was okay needs shooting. The builders used the wrong materials so it is falling down from day one and not one single contractor has admitted liability and we are left with a disgraceful - ugly falling down mall that Bournemouth is ashamed of.~

Confusing traffic flow causing some drivers to get all confused and this creates chaos and huge long queues to simply get in or out.

The shops are okay - good selection - but the design and facilities for toilets and food / refreshments is DREADFUL.

BOTTOM OF THE CLASS FOR STYLE - PARKING - FACILITIES - FOOD AND REFRESHMENTS - OVERHEAD COVER WHEN RAINING - TOILETS AND CONVENIENCE IN GETTING THERE.

bad bad bad

“The worst shopping centre in Britain?”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

I arrived last week on a wet day by bus to visit the Castlepoint centre in Bournemouth. There was no obvious esroute from the bus stop to the shops so I followed other people through dingy poorly lit underground car parks. There appeared to be no public toilets, apart from those in the shops. There were no maps of the centre so it was impossible to find out where anything was. Restaurants were advertised but we never found them and there was no information centre to ask. It was impossible for two elderly people to rest, as there were no seats under cover. This was the worst designed and managed shopping centre I have ever visited in the UK. Having said that the shops themselves were fine!
Some suggestions for the management.
(I) Clearly signed and well lit route from bus stops to the shops.
(ii) Clearly signed public toilets.
(iii) Some seats (preferably under cover) to allow the elderly to rest.
(iv) Map boards of the centre so that people can find their way around.

“Nightmare to park!”
Reviewed 16 April 2014 via mobile

Although Castle Point boasts most hight street stores and grocery stores it lacks immensely in traffic management.
Apart from the whole car park is now held up on stilts due to issues with its structure, finding a space is incredibly hard and I find myself driving round in circles for ages until I then have to have a standoff with Joe Bloggs in his RangeRover to squeeze into a gap.
Some days it can take an hour just to get out of the car park!
They have 2 lanes on one of the out ramps which are just wide enough for 2 x disability scooters!
It truly needs addressing.
In a nut shell, Castle Point has some great shops but is let down by their traffic management team.
