My wife and I had a Groupon voucher for a 2 course Sunday lunch plus a glass of wine/pint, followed by coffee. We hoped that we would experience something appropriate for a fairly good hotel- we were a little disappointed!
We arrived and were shown to the Atlantis restaurant (which was in the basement, with high levels windows looking out onto the car park!) We were shown to our table by the restaurant manager, who asked if we wanted starters. When we said "No, and that we would have a dessert instead" he then directed us towards the carvery. We got our meal ( Very typical carvery- food was just about satisfactory, and most people were piling it as high as they could on their plates!!!),
We returned to our table and I beckoned a waiter to us, to ask if we could have our glass of wine. He said he would arrange it and disappeared. When we had nearly finished our main course, I beckoned another waiter to us and told him that we still had not had our drinks. He then went to a wine waiter who then came to us to take our drinks order. By the time the wine arrived, we had finished our main course!!! The dessert choice was rather restricted, but we chose those and ordered our coffees at the same time in order that we would receive them on time.
Whilst the meal was just about satisfactory, it most certainly was not inspiring, and not what we would have hoped for. Many hotels offer good Sunday lunch deals, and this was not one that we felt was good enough to encourage our return.
