Had a four night stay during the air festival in a superior room /balcony/sea view. All in all I really don't think that these rooms are worth the money they charge. Equally I am not sure how they achieve the four stars or indeed how often they are checked to maintain this.
I accept that a lot of hotels become a little tired from time to time.To us there is no excuse for the following ;
Room ; Had French doors leading to the small balcony....only one opened due to damage to the other one... no fridge or safe .. included in other 4 star hotels we have stayed in. We did eventually get a fridge but I guess we were lucky
Bathroom ;lid on pedal bin broken and just placed on top... which we kept forgetting about and probably disturbed our neighbours each time it dropped to the floor.
Shower head cracked ....flooded floor when used...despite the poor water pressure. Managed to get a replacement.
Pubic hair in bath .
Room service, No additional charge... good. Having to wait a while.... acceptable... half of your meal missing...not so acceptable..had to eat the vegetables missing from my meal as a dessert !!
Swimming pool...never used .Also never saw it being cleaned. The same carrier bag and leaflet/magazine remained in the pool throughout the four days.
Leisure facilities..as someone else pointed out ...very dirty throughout. Changing rooms were regularly littered with numerous dirty towels and bathrobes ....only toilet blocked , smelling and not repaired for two days.Only shower, dirtyand leaking. Water cooler, leaking , located on a rotting mat.
People were allowed to walk from outside areas into the indoor leisure facilities. Jacussi burning hot one day..complained..got an apology but weren't asked how we were .Not hot enough to scald although certainly stung our feet before we quickly exited.
Managed to leave a set of keys behind...two phone calls later promising to ring us back....we are still waiting.. the last one being from the deputy manager...still waiting.....
Yes breakfasts are nice and the staff are friendly , however that doesn't make up for everything else wrong with this hotel

This hotel had fairly recently been updated and was very clean! The staff was very eager to meet any of our needs. Loved the view of the ocean from a veranda or front porch that went along the front of the hotel - had comfortable seating there. The lobby also had a comfortable seating and a bar in one end. It was actually
Ike a huge living room. The hotel was in walking distance to the beach and pier. Close by there is a cable car that can take you to the beach. We also liked the art museum which is close by The Russell Coate Museum which is in what was a very large home at one time. Lots of stained glass in this home and other architecture of the period it was built.
Let's talk food. The breakfast was included and was a large buffet style. We usually do not eat other meals at a hotel but choose to go to local restaurants. We did attempt to do this but found parking to be lacking at any of the restaurants in the town or at the pier. You would have had to walk a long way to them and it was cooler than we were dressed. So we went back to the hotel dining room. So glad we did! We ate 2 dinners there and they were superb, great, scrumptious or what ever term you wish to use for very good food with plenty of selections to choose from.
The only cons that I had with staying here is the lack of air conditioning. Also, our room was small. The staff said they were going to put us in a larger room with a better view but it was only accessible by a flight of stairs which I could not manage at this time. So they were good enough to change us to a room which had the use of an elevator. But I really
Iicked staying here. It was very well decorated and furnished; but a little like going back in time perhaps to the 50's?

Room Tip: If you need an elevator, ask ahead of time. Not sure if any of the rooms are air conditioned. It is...

We went to watch the first day of Air Festival. Our room 1104, on first floor was spacious, clean and comfortable with a large balcony.
Staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice .
Evening meals were well cooked and presented.
Free car parking, nice pool and also use of sister hotels indoor pool and sauna.
Our only gripe is as with lots of hotels, the sound travels from room to room and unfortunately we were next to quite a loud couple, who on our first night decided to have a blazing row at 11.30 pm !
Apart from that we had a lovely time and fantastic view from our balcony of the air show and Red Arrows.

Me, my husband and our seven month old Labrador puppy stayed at this hotel for a weekend for my birthday. The hotel reception is very clean and the bar area looking out onto the coast is lovely. The double room that we stayed in was very clean, however it was very small and cramped. There were no windows or ventilation in the bathroom, therefore after a shower the room became awfully hot. During the summer months I would not recommend such a small room. We did not dine in the restaurant, however the menu looked very good for both veg and non veg options. The waiter at the bar in reception tried to over charge us for a pot of tea for one because two of us drank it. Be careful as the menu specifies 'One pot' however this can provide two cups of tea if that is all you want. Also the cleaners threw our dogs bone away, which cost us £15. When we told the reception staff they did nothing about it except apologised. Cleaners have no right to throw other peoples property, so do not leave any valuables as there is no safe in the room. The location of the hotel is excellent and is close to all the amenities. A disappointing factor of the weekend was the pier as they charge to go onto it and actually there is nothing to see once you get to the end. It just offers a restaurant where you can sit and dine. The spa in the sister hotel is very dirty and the pool and Jacuzzi area need to be re-furbished or cleaned more often. My husband and I had a beauty treatment due to an offer the spa had. However it was not relaxing at all. My husbands back massage was effortless and did not even last the full 30mins as specified. The therapist doing my pedicure was not experienced at all and painted my nails very badly. She was also asking the other therapist how to perform the treatment and I was shocked as I over heard them speaking. Surely as a trained beauty therapist you should know what the treatment involves-very un professional.

Room Tip: If you are travelling during summer months the double room is not ideal. It is very small and stuffy...

Fantastic hotel, Impeccably clean and everyone was polite, not flaws with the room at all! Few downsides - breakfast wasn't all that and the service wasn't very fast but really nothing to worry about. The pool was very nice and heated and was quiet too as it's not a huge hotel. I'd recommend it to friends and family.
