“Great value for money”
Reviewed 31 October 2013

We have recently had a break in Bournemouth and we saw this hotel so booked it. What a bargin! The location was fantastic,150 yards from the beach. The staff were great ,very helpful & easy to get on with. Breakfast was great, better than any big chain hotel. The rooms were comfortable & clean. We would certainly recommend this hotel.

just got back from The Travel Rest the room was clean and comfortable, recently refurbished I think. No problem parking, WIFI was available on the first floor. If anything the stair carpet could have done with replacing but I think this might be due to be done with the on going refurbishments
We were surprised that there was no food available in the evening, so had to go to the Travel Lodge up the Road for food, where we were made welcome. Other guests were also expecting food in the evening as your website quotes. They were advised to go round the corner to the bar or go into Town, as the weather was bad this was not an option.a. It was extremely quite in the Hotel, so I presume not fully booked, we sat in the lounge/breakfast room just two on our own, which seemed strange. The guy on reception was also looking after the bar, I felt he was the only staff on duty. He did seem a bit fed up, and embarrassed when asked about the food situation.

Room Tip: I had a room on the main road and it was quite noisy late at night. With traffic and groups waking p...

Dear Barbara,
Thank You for your recent feedback.
We are all glad that you seemed to enjoy your stay with us.
As we are now out of 'High Season', we do now only offer Breakfast - and not Lunch or Dinner - If you are able to tell us where this is stated, I will get this edited promptly. We therefore apologize, if this is the case. Although, due to location - there are many local restaurants and eatery's in close proximity of TravelRest, even in poor weather conditions - we have a Fish & Chip restaurant directly next door, along with a Pub and Italian Restaurant - within seconds of our Main Entrance.
We do look forward to welcoming you again.
Kind Regards,

Came here on the 21st and left on the 25th. It said on their original website when i booked the hotel there was free wi-fi .... ABSOLUTE LIES!!!!! no wi-fi. wi-fi only works for their workers on the ground floor and people in the bar. but in the bedrooms where you really need it it doesn't work...
Complained to the guy at the front who has a hairstyle similar to that of a crazy party goer rather than a smart hotel person. Carpet was about a 20 years old with traces of dog hair. The doors of each room were very thin, old and brown. Looks like it could be kicked down with a single kick. Water pipes make a lot of noise. Bathroom so tiny. Clumsy and weak furniture in all rooms. I understand I paid for a crappy room but it doesn't mean it has to be that bad!! Old crappy kettle in the corner of the room, with a pot stuffed with sachets of coffee and tea with poor quality of milk. Every time some one walked past my door i could hear it. The floor boards were incredibly creaky!!! All in all the hotel looks like a poorly refurbished Victorian orphanage but in a reasonable location. Then again who cares about location when you can't get a decent nights sleep. When I stayed at the hotel, the whole hotel had been invaded by old men who had probably divorced their wives over the week end to come over and play insolent childish war games!!!!! There was one particular guy parading around the whole hotel in his long pony tail, skinny jeans and socks on a crusade, determined to round up as many gamers as possible!! NOT HAPPY!!

Dear Martin,
Thank You for your feedback.
It is unfortunate, that you didnt seem to enjoy your experience - whilst staying at TravelRest.
We can only apologise for how you personally found our hotel and subjects within it.
We do offer FREE wi-fi, throughout the hotel and have recently upgraded also, to give our guests - as quicker access as possible.
It is with regret that you have stated issues with our staff members, although from the majority of comments we have had - our staff recieve excellent feedback for professionalism in both manner and appearance.
During your stay, we did indeed have a group staying at the same time also - they are regular visitors, who add to the happy, upbeat atmosphere of the hotel and have already booked again to stay at TravelRest, next year.
TravelRest offers great value from just £25 per night, always aiming to please our guests on each arrival. We are sorry that we didnt seem to meet your standards on this occassion but would like to welcome you back in the near future.
Kind Regards,
Ross Goode

First when we booked in we had to wait ten minutes for someone to answer reception even thow we had pushed the bell more times than i can remember I also asked to book in early by email but this didn't seem to felter down to reception so was told no we couldn't. No smile no hello welcome to travelrest just mumbled English in a accent. When we walked up the creaky stairs we were met by thread Baer carpets in places the smell of old and very dim lighted hall ways. When we opened the door to our room number 10. We where very pleased by the lightness of the room. (No bilble ) tea and coffee very comfy bed and a wardrobe which had a door missing. Bathroom good. But sink is moving away from the wall. We had already decided not to eat at you travelrest because it wasn't how can I say this. RUFF. and smelled old and Look like it was furnished from second hand furniture shop. There was no wifi in the room even throw its advertised with free wifi. And free parking. Well when we went out to eat. If you take your car out. You can't get a parking space when we returned. We asked if there's an overflow parking and was told no. There free parking on the road. Not on the sea front. And we would have to look for a space. Well after 45 minutes we found one over 1/4 mile away. This in my mind is not right. If you have x amounts of rooms you should have a least one car space to each room. Also getting woken up at 06.30 in the morning by the drayman making a deliver of metal beer barrels and swearing when delivering the barrels. How nice it is to hear that at that time of the morning. Overall. No I will not stay here again. I know it's not a dear place to stay. But cheap should not mean cheerful you can still provide a nice place to stay.

Dear Paul,
Thank You for your review.
I apologize for your recent experience at TravelRest.
As we state on all literature and online booking sites - our parking is limited (as most hotels are in Bournemouth) therefore, if we have exceeded our capacity, we will help direct guests to the nearest alternative. We are also undergoing various refurbishments throughout the hotel, hopefully improving your views on decor, for if you chose to stay with us again in the future.
Thank You for your positive comments about the room you stayed, although the wardrobe does indeed have a door - it is a movable mirror, as many establishments have the same nowadays.
I do hope this has help with most of your feedback.
Kind Regards,
Ross Goode

Thank you travel rest not only for one but three lovely visits. Each time we have been given a lovely clean room (unlike britannia hotels in the same area). The staff stocked up our tea and coffee daily, changed towels daily and where very friendly and helpful. One lady in particular stood out to me, whilst having our breakfast she went out of her way to put the lounge/bar tv on to cbebbies and was so lovely and friendly. I didn't get her name but she had distinctive red hair and was a well spoken older lady. Couldn't have met a nicer person in my opinion. The staff serving breakfast with her where very friendly I'd definitely stay again and would highly recommend the hotel :)

We booked in for just the one night as we had a work do to go to in Bournemouth, ok so its on a busy road but to be honest although I heard a few cars and people walking home at silly o'clock it really didn't keep me awake for long, we were however really pleased at how lovely and clean the hotel and room was, it was so nice to see and a pleasure to stay, and the bed was very comfy, the lovely lady on reception booked us a taxi and was very helpful, all in all a good choice.

Room Tip: Good clean value

Me and my friend stayed her for the weekend on a Saturday night, we paid £59 for the night as we booked a twin room, when we arrived we were told there wasn't any twin rooms available so we would be staying in a family room instead (we didn't mind). Our room didn't look anything like the pictures on the internet, it was very outdated but it was big and clean. It was ideal for us with the location being very close to bars and clubs.
It's walking distance from the train station or if your like us and have suitcases we got a taxi costing about £7.
I would recommend this hotel if your looking to stay in bournemouth for the night life and you want a budget hotel.
