Only stayed here for one night but found the room to be clean and good value for what was charged. The room was described as a double but it did seem a little on the small side, as I was only there for one night it was fine. The lady and gentleman that checked us in were friendly and welcoming. It's also very close to the beach and walking distance to town so very convenient.

We decided to take a slow drive from Cornwall to Kent and as we hadn't been to Bournemouth for several years decided to have an overnight stop. We had never heard of the TravelRest before and booked it really becomes it seemed to get good reviews and was great value (less than £40 for a double room).
It turned out to be really close to several hotels we had stayed in during past visits to Bournemouth and only a couple of minutes walk to the beach & pier or the town centre.
We checked in no problem and had selected a 'TravelRest Double' which they call a club room, it was marginally more expensive than the basic room. It was just fine. Comfortable bed, ensuite, TV, etc. You could just about see the sea from our room (No3).
The room lacked air conditioning so we left the windows open which was fine until the hotel opposite (The Savoy) became a hive of commercial activity at about 7.15am with deliveries followed by coach movements. We thought a 7.15am delivery of foodstuffs with the vehicle parked so that the banging and clattering was outside a neighbouring hotel most inconsiderate.
If you are looking for the Hilton, then don't stay at the TravelRest. If you are looking for a great value place for a short stay, then you can do much worse.

Thank you for your review which we really appreciate. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay, although have noted your comments in regards to the noise from deliveries to neighbouring hotels, which we shall look into. We very much look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

We booked here as it looked good value. We were not disappointed. Yes, the room is a little small but it is compact and has everything you could want. We had booked to go to Guernsey from Poole so this hotel was ideally placed. It is extremely clean and the breakfast was very good. The staff were friendly and helpful. We parked the car - you need to collect a ticket from the reception - and we had no need to move it again as you are so near to the beach and the lovely Bournemouth gardens. The town is just a little walk as well, about 10 - 15 mins and the Bournemouth International Centre is just a few minutes away. Ideally placed for a concert. We would definitely come here again.

Room Tip: We were in room 39 and you could see the sea through the trees - a lovely view to wake up to.

Staff not the most knowledgeable.....No chef which meant no evening meals available. However the actual location was nice. close to the beach, few little shops near by and quite easy to find. Room was great for the price I paid....Cheap and cheerful. Would stay here again!!

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry the Bistro was not available when you stayed and as you pointed out we so centrally located there are many alternative eating venues nearby and in the town centre.

We really look forward to welcmoing you back soon.

booked a month or so ago a family room as we were going to the bic to see a concert,we arrived with not much time before the concert started checked in and were directed to our room, we entered to find a very small room with only a double bed,we stopped at reception to explain that this was not as requested but didn't have much time before leaving we were told that people with a similar name had checked in too and there had been a mix up with this we had to go,after arriving back there was no mention of the mix up and no other rom was offered, we made do for the night but were very uncomfortable, this is the third time I have stayed here and the other times were fine, the hotel is generally clean and tidy,i hope this was a one off and if I stay again there is improvement ,

I was concerned to learn of your disappointing stay due to a mixed reservation and should be grateful if you would kindly contact me directly at the hotel as I would like to review this matter further. Booked 2 rooms at the Travelrest, ideal location for the beach and the BIC. We parked our car in the car park, was given a parking token and never needed it again during our stay. Staff were all polite, rooms were clean. and would definately go back to the Travelrest if revisiting Bournemouth.

Room Tip: Just round the corner you have a small convenience store and take away fish and chip shop. but then...

The room and service were far better than we expected for the price we paid. Our rooms were spacious & spotless & there was even a hairdryer. All the staff went out of their way to be helpful (I asked for extra milk and was given a jug - and extra toast at breakfast was provided without question). Parking is limited (normal for Bournemouth) so book in early and then don't move your car! The only real problem we had was with the "breakfast voucher" system; we had to rush back to the hotel between a wedding and the reception, in order to ensure we got breakfast the next morning (which was very good, by the way).

Shower rooms are a little cramped and we couldn't get the wi-fi to work for a 'phone, but the location and price more than made up for these little niggles.

Overall, fantastic value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the busy main road; or do as I did, and pretend it is the sea....
