“Highly priced, not suitable for kids and not value for money”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

We booked 4 rooms for 3 nights over the August 2014 bank holiday, two double and two family rooms. We were charged more for the family rooms which had kids under 3 yrs age, however, all the rooms were identical. The only difference being that the sofa's in the family rooms were opened up to become beds. Could not understand why we were charged extra, as kids ate their own breakfast from containers that we brought. We did not get intercommunicating rooms in spite of booking three months in advance. On arrival we were given two rooms on different floor with the explanation that family rooms were on different floors to double rooms. However, all rooms were identical. The children had a play room which was filthy, not cleaned in the duration we were and had alcoholic beverages empty bottles lying in the garbage tin in the kids play area for over 72 hours. (see photo). the breakfast was like a mayhem with a lot of guests and supplies ran out without being replenished. The scrambled eggs were very wet and runny and smelled. The only good thing was the pool and the parking as there was enough spaces. If you have children do not go to this hotel. The higher floor rooms are better than lower and the hotel is very nicely located with Boscombe pier and Christchurch road close by. The night life and selection of restaurants in the Christchurch and Char minister roads are close by and has good variety.

Room Tip: Higher floors are better, however, note the air condition switches itself off in the middle of the n...

Stayed here for 3 Days whilst visiting family locally. First time at a Village Hotel but really enjoyed it. Everything on hand, great Pool and Gym and all the staff were excellent. Didnt eat here other than Breakfast so cant comment on the restaurants, but Breakfast was very good but a few improvements could be made, get some Cereal dispensers, fishing it out of bowls with a spoon is impractical and messy. Tables should be cleared as your eating not leaving everything until you have finished completely and plates at either end of the Buffet just confuses things. All trivial, the important thing was that the food was excellent. We stayed in room 228, nice room but the Bed had seen better days, you rolled off one side. Sounds negative, and they were minor things, overall the place was great and we enjoyed our stay. .

We have just completed our 4th or possibly 5th stay here and once again all of the staff went out of their way to make it a great experience. From check in to check out everything was just fine. The restaurant staff remembered us from previous visits and were more than happy to accommodate my wife's dietary requirements.
We ate in the restaurant on two evenings and they looked after our table of eight very well. We ate in the bar on one night and made good use of the special offers that were displayed around reception.
As I often mention in my reviews difficult customers attract difficult staff. Staying in a hotel us much like life itself. You get what you deserve whatever you pay.

We normally always stay at most urban village hotel around the country but this hotel is by far the worst one i have been to. I paid £120 expecting great service but it was quite the opposite. On arrival we noticed the throw over on the bed was dirty looked as if they did not bother washing it. I was quite shocked the room service stopped at 10pm with the amount i paid im quite use to a 24hr room service so this did let the hotel down quite badly. Over all i would not even recommend staying here to a friend totally not worth the money.

Staff in all areas except restaurant were very helpful and friendly. Leisure club member of staff even printed off the bus timetable for me! We had major problems in the restaurant on the Sunday evening. Staff were giving us excuses after excuses as to why we had to wait half an hour for a round of drinks which included a jug of water. A further hour delay on receiving starters which came warm not hot together with a further excuse which we were really not interested in. White wine was not cold. A young member of staff had bad attitude when asked about our food order. A member of staff did apologise and gave a small discount off the bill. Each morning we had to queue to be seated at breakfast, there were occasions when there we no plates, glasses and milk which caused a further delay. A shame the restaurant does not match the customer service provided by other areas of the hotel. Restaurant staffing levels and customer service clearly needs attention.

Thank you for your recent review. I am sorry to hear that you experienced shortfalls in service in the restaurant. These have been addressed in detail with both the Restaurant Manager and Head Chef. I can assure you this is not our normal level of service in Verve Grill. Should you have future accommodation needs in the area please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Used this hotel for a Sunday night stay because it allows dogs - good on 'em. Very happy with facilities. Peaceful night. Friendly staff. Would happily visit again.
Breakfast - hot food looking quite tired from heat lamp and one sad dried up fried egg on display - needed attention to replenishing. Pre prepared tea pots on your arrival meant for stewed tea but makes life easier for staff I suppose!
