We attended a 50th anniversary dinner over the weekend and I can only say what a splendid meal and atmosphere the hotel laid on. The service was 5 star as was the meal, would recommend the hotel as a venue for a function.

My partner has just returned from a stag weekend and would NOT recommend this hotel. They were not told about the 500 pound deposit they needed to give before they booked so when they arrived they had no choice but to pay. This saftey deposit was supposed to be for "Damages". So when they checked out this morning all rooms having been checked and damage free they were astounded when the hotel kept 400 pound back due to 1 complaint about noise on the first night. The hotel has justified this saying they have had to refund someones room and pay for someones dinner which cost altogether 130 pounds. They apprieciate paying what is owed but to keep 400 pound is ridiculous and a money making scam. Also when checking the rooms the staff member came straight into the room without knocking first and did not even appolgise. The hotel were pre warned that this was a group of stags and where happy to take the booking at the time. Fellow stags and hens beware this is not stag friendly!!!!

Room Tip: Very dated but was clean ish.

arrived 07/08/12 receptionist told us we had a free upgrade to a sea view because they weren't busy. we thought this was a lovely gesture. got the lift to the third floor which was out of the ark and smelt musty. we were surprised when we entered our room. it was very small, the double bed was against the wall which meant one of us climbing up and down the bed every time we needed to go to the toilet. the room was very dated, although it was clean. dread to think what the original room looked like if this was an upgrade. I would not recommend this hotel to a friend or relative.

For our daughter's wedding guests we needed about 40 bed and breakfast hotel rooms in Bournemouth. The wedding took place on 4th August but we had to make the group booking much earlier as the Olympic events in Weymouth were bound to fill up the local hotels rapidly. Fortunately, we were able to check details with the group booking manager regularly by email. Most of our guests arrived on the day of the wedding and all found the reception staff extremely well organised, friendly and helpful. A huge effort was made to enable guests access to their rooms earlier than the normal 2 pm checking-in time as the wedding coach was leaving the hotel at 2:30 pm. The rooms were clean and comfortable; breakfast was very good; the staff were always friendly and could not have been more helpful. Our guests really enjoyed the hotel and found its position ideal for walking along the beach or to the town. It is also within 15 minutes walk of the railway station.

Room Tip: Lovely sea view at the front of the hotel but the rooms can get very warm on a sunny day. Most rooms...

Great stay at a great hotel in a perfect position for town and the beach, could not fault it. You go next door for breakfast which again is up to a good standard. I would go back to the Ocean view again without any hesitation.

The Ocean View hotel in Bournemouth is a lovely clean hotel but it is not recommended if you have sever mobility problems.

The car park is small so you are not always guaranteed a parking space and there are no disabled spaces.

There are half a dozen or so stairs up to reception of the hotel, no ramps and another four up to the main part of the hotel/bar/lift/restaurant.

The rear of the hotel has lovely gardens that I would love to do something with and the swimming pool but once again there are several steps that have to be negotiated.

A word on the pool, it is freezing, I think I saw an iceberg or it may have been the nausea caused by the extreme cold.

The room we had was large, clean and sea facing, the views are breath-taking. We had a LCD TV with Freeview, kettle with a selection of drinks and a hairdryer.

The double bed is comfortable although the quilt was way to warm but getting an extra sheet for the bed was not a problem as with getting extra tea, coffee, sugar and milk.

There is a toilet, bath and separate shower although the shower is very small and cramp and the water that comes from the shower is not very powerful at all, the bath is a much better option.

The rooms are cleaned every day and there is no problem getting towels or toiletries.

There is free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel including the rooms but it is very slow.

All the staff are friendly, polite and helpful.

One small note, the floorboards are the noisiest I have ever known in any building I have ever been in.

The hotel is less than a mile from the centre of Bournemouth with a bus stop right outside the hotel. Parking in the centre of Bournemouth is near impossible.

Room Tip: Sea facing gives exceptional views especially if on the top two floors.

Originally we were a group of four that had been booked into the Cottonwood Boutique Hotel next door, a week before we were told that this hotel had been overbooked and that we were now staying in the Ocean View. This hotel was a fine replacement, our room was a re-furbished sea view one with balcony which was fine. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the breakfasts were delicious with a great choice.
