Stayed here for 2 nights on a bed and breakfast stay,
The hotel was clean and homely, there is a nice lounge and garden to relax in. Our room on the top floor was spacious and comfortable - there didnt appear to be a lift, so you might find it a bit difficult if you are on a high floor, although there are room on the ground floor available.
breakfast was very nice, the couple who run the hotel are very pleasant.
The hotel is in a good position, about 5 mins walk to the cliff top and the seaviews, and about 15 mins walk to the pier, gardens and town centre in a nice area.
I would recommend this hotel if you are in bournemouth for a short break. If you were here for a week, you might want a hotel with more facilities but for a couple of nights, its a very nice place to stay.

Spent a couple of nights at this hotel.

Plus points:

• Adequate car parking
• Almost as close as you can get to beach (although a steep walk down cliff is inevitable).
• Easy walking distance of town centre
• No noisy nightclubs nearby
• Free wi-fi
• Large, comfortable lounge
• Gardens
• Hotel can supply morning newspaper
• Freeview digital TV in rooms
• Free safe in room

On the other hand:

• I was treated very business like, efficiently and correctly – but there was no warmth and personal interaction. It did seem that others were more cordially treated so this might be my fault.
• Room was quite small – with sloping ceiling reducing headroom
• Room faced the afternoon sun – and this together with it’s position above a flat roof, and small window meant room did not cool down.
• Being on a main road and need to keep window wide open made night time noisy.
• Breakfast didn’t have the selection offered at other establishments – although what was provided was fine.

Overall I’d describe this as an average establishment which charges slightly more than average– and whilst I wouldn’t rush to book it again – I wouldn’t be too upset at staying for another few days.

Shame that this guest was not so happy. He was in a single room, with double bed, en-suite bath and shower, all the other facilities he lists and obviously the sun was shining! £42 per night , staying for just two nights, for bed and breakfast during August peak season surely can't be that bad??

Although I had stayed in Bournemouth before, it was 50 years ago and I don't remember it much! This, however, was my wife's first trip to Bournemouth. We found Winter Dene from the Bournemouth Short Stay guide, and were impressed with their web site and short video clip. We were very impressed with the hotel, our room was very clean and the beds comfortable. We were particularly impressed with the breakfasts and dinners, and the owners made every effort to ensure we were well catered for, particularly as my wife requires a gluten-free diet. We were very pleased we had chosen to stay at the quieter, better kept west end of Bournemouth, and the walk to Sandbanks and the visit to Corfe Castle were highlights of our stay. We hope to stay again at Winter Dene next May.
