recently stayed at this hotel on a hen night, and had such a good time i decided to write this review, the owner louise was the nicest lady and looked after us the whole time we were there, and made the experience unforgetable for us all, the rooms were basic but very clean, we had a champagne breakfast on the saturday which was great, the hotel is just a taxi drive away from the town, and louise went out of her way to get us on the guest list for some of the clubs in bournemouth town. i would definatly recommend this hotel for stags and hens!

Having read some of the other reviews i was not to sure what we were going to be getting as twelve of us were staying at the hotel on a stag weekend, however the owners were very helpful told us all the best pubs and clubs to go in and even go us on a guest list on the Saturday night, the rooms were clean but the shower rooms were quite small, the beech is at the bottom of the road, 10 Mins walk along the beech front to town, breakfast was fine and lots of it. Over all we had a great weekend partying this hotel is set up for Stags/Hens

  • Liked — The owners were very helpful and the beer there was cheep
  • Disliked — the shower rooms are small but the showers are very good, over all the decorations were old but it was clean

Stayed at the same hotel two years ago, it was great. However the new owners really did not know what they were doing. Firstly I could not get an answer from the door, eventually unhappy woman (owner) and large dog arrived. Instantly demanded payment for room (in cash). That was the last we saw of her. The rooms were not clean, very cramped, not good. Breakfast (em) was help yourself to a fridge (few rolls, cheese etc). The place is not good and I would not recommend it. Although ideally situated the whole placed needs a massive makeover, good clean and is not cheap. The owner needs to scrub up on her not existent customer service.

  • Liked — location. near to beaches

Had stayed here quite a few years ago and it was a typical B&B hotel but was always clean, friendly and affordable. The new owners are very friendly and helpful but unfortunately the hotel, despite the lick of paint, certainly shows it's age and could do with some updating. Although breakfast was plentiful, we felt the cost per room per night was high for this particular hotel. I'm afraid I wouldn't recommend it to a friend unless it had some serious updating. I think the hotel is more suited to stag and hen party goers rather than couples. Having said all of that, the hotel is in an excellent position particularly for the beach or walking into the centre of Bournemouth.

Stayed at the Golden Sovereign as part of a stag do, Hotel is comfortable and only caters for stag groups.

The owner Louise is friendly and more than happy to help with any questions you may have.

Rooms are decorated to a mixed standard but for a stag do this is more than adequate.

Food is good and the bar is cheap which is handy on a stag do.

Would recommend this hotel, although, you will need to use taxis where ever you want to go as its too far out of town to walk.

  • Liked — Relaxed atmosphere
  • Disliked — Nothing really

Run by the nicest most hospitable gentlemen you could ever hope to come across. Breakfasts were huge. Bed firm and comfortable. It is clean, basic accommodation - reasonably priced, nothing luxurious, simply pleasant and comfortable. Parking was available on the street and the peaceful beach was but a few short and pleasant minutes walk away. Will definitely stay there again.

  • Liked — The Koi Pond, Bird House and Seating in the Garden
  • Disliked — Room and en-suite bathroom were very small (but they were fine for the night and the price was reasonable)

stayed here for two nights in total. the room we stayed in was very cosy, clean and quiet. The en-suite didnt have a bath but the walk in shower was perfect. the staff were very very friendly and went out of their way to try and make you happy. Steve- one of the owners was sweet enough to make us sandwiches late one night as we were feeling peckish and didnt even charge us for it. breakfast was good and there were a variety of cereals as well as a full english breakfast. the only downside was the location. great for the beacg but id say far enough from the city centre and train and coach stations if u dont drive that is. otherwise its a nice but long walk on the beach to get to these places. overall it was excellent value for money. would definately come back.
