Booked through National Holidays, and was wondering what to expect after reading some of the reviews. Ok, the place is in need a make-over, but room was tidy and food was ok. The staff in the restaurant were very helpful but short of numbers and hard working. Must be a management cost saving strategy - employ less staff and expect them to do the jobs of two people.
Don't be put off - it was a very cheap break, but we both enjoyed it.
But Mr Two Puddings from Wakefield - shame on you! There are others who would have liked a piece of chocolate cake for desert!

This hotels location is really good close to shops and a nice short walk to the pier, it's in a quiet lovely area. I read reviews on this and they put me off but it's really not that bad. Our room was lovely and clean plus really big and we had a great view of the sea. Loved the meal times, they had a fantastic salad bar and some nice choices of main courses. The evening entertainment was good but we spent most of our nights in the little bar on the pool table. Swimming pool is good. We enjoyed our stay here and I think our rooms was great for what we paid for the trip.

Stayed her for one night on a groupon deal which yes I know it was cheap but have stayed in many Britannia hotels and this was the worse..As in a review that has already been put on the staffs customer service is awful. The rooms are in much need of TLC ,the bar was ok just not manned everytime you wanted a drink you had to go find someone to serve you,If it wasn't for the crowd that was in bar the weekend would have been dull. The bar was shut at 10.30 even with 12 of us paying guests in there.Spoke to hotel management or duty manager but they were not interested in fact turned round and reply to a comment which was we wont be returning with a answer of ok!!Also the charge for parking on their grounds is a bit much to,Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Cheap, 2* hotel. Clean but run down & tatty. Rooms smell a bit musky, furniture dated & thread bare but again clean, no remote for tv. Ensuite bathroom good with mini toiletries & towels available.
Polite european staff, some of which do not understand much English.
Pool, Sauna, Jacuzzi clean & basic. Reasonable size pool if you like to do lengths. Shower's great very powerful better massage than the Jacuzzi.
Lifts are only big enough for 2 persons so be prepared to take the stairs.
Breakfast was ok. They will poach eggs to order which were nice. Cereals, Fruit juices, Teabags all unbranded smart price which are not to everyones taste. Personally I won't be rushing back but it was fine for 1 night.

The hotel was like Fawlty Towers
Our bathroom was unclean, the wardrobe had rubbish on top, you had to pay to park and use the swim pool.
No evening entertainment!! Saturday night.....so we made our own to be told off by management and security!!
My partner had to show the bar lady how to use a bottle opener for our wine!!! Though she was hardly in the bar area unless she was called in to attend by one of the guests.....
We even ended up going to Asda to get some wine as it was quicker and cheaper than waiting to be served.
On a good note the breakfast was very nice and fresh and plentiful.....and we met some nice if not disgruntled guests who were also staying in hotel.
Good location for beach....
We had a Groupon offer so didn't expect much, but the staff need Hospitality training as most were unsure on how to deal or speak to the guests....
Needless to say we will not be staying in another Britannia Hotel
Trayc....

We have just returned from one night at the Britannia on an unbelievably cheap groupon deal. On this basis we were completely satisfied. Staff were helpful and polite, our room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed, bright bathroom, with efficient (once we had worked out how to operate it!) shower, there was a a large kettle and plenty of tea and coffee . Yes, it was in need of some TLC ;gaps around the windows, some cracked plaster but a fairly pleasant place to sleep in.
The lifts had grubby carpets and were a squash for two people but came quickly! The dining room was large with coordinating furniture (again some with dangling springs!) a fresh yellow gerbera on each table and a very attentive young man serving our wine. Some quiet music maybe would have added some atmosphere. Dinner was buffet, basic three courses with adequate choice for a short stay. We were told by guests on a longer stay that the food was identical each night. But we definitely got our money's worth. Similarly breakfast was hot, had a reasonable choice and set us up for the day. The location of the hotel is excellent; a short walk from many restaurants and bars, efficient bus service, the centre of the town and the cliff top.
All in all, don't expect four star standards and you will be happy! We did not use the pool (for which there was an extra charge). Also there was a £3 charge for car parking; although this was not applied consistently.

The experience I had at Spindles Leisure Centre, part of the Britannia Hotel is one that will stay with me for the rest of my life. I have never felt so angry, upset or embarrassed due to the actions of a stranger, this one being the manager of above mentioned establishment.
We were holidaying in Bournemouth a couple of months ago and one morning we were walking into the town and decided to stop for a coffee. There were 6 of us and we each had 3 drinks and a cake each in the space of about 90 minutes.

All of a sudden, a horrible rude woman came to our table and shouted at us to leave immediately. She said the outside area was for hotel guests only and when I reminded her the sign at the entrance clearly states ‘everybody welcome’ she became very aggressive she said it doesn’t apply when there is an air show on (that wasn’t due to start for at least 3 hours) then she pushed her face very close to mine and informed me that if we didn’t leave she’d be happy to make us. (I will mention at this point we weren’t a bunch of rowdy teenagers causing trouble. Our group consisted of a couple in our thirties, and elderly couple and two quiet, well behaved children)

The whole ordeal was distressing and embarrassing for all of us and I can imagine from the sympathetic looks we received it was also upsetting for many of the people who witnessed it, one hotel guest who has also been quizzed and asked to prove evidence of his stay - told us loudly that we ought to put in a complaint, within earshot of the manager who stomped off.

We tried to call Britannia Hotels ‘customer service’ team who couldn’t even pretend to give two hoots about what I was saying. I was told all complaints must be in writing, and even when you do put it in writing apparently don’t expect to ever hear a response.
