Where do I start! Facade, tired and shabby, reception worn. Male receptionist obviously has a cultural difference when it comes to customer service. (Guest pensioner asks if he can get subtitles on his TV as he is a bit deaf, conversation (!) goes as follows:
"surely you can it's a newish telly?",
"No but I don't know, I'm new here" (Fawlty Towers anybody!! without the charm)...female receptionist of European origin also replies "no you can't"..and they then both ignored the old boy..
Lift to room, ones company two is a damn tight fit, with a suitcase only one will fit if the case isn't more than a cabin bag, and looking at average age of guests they need the lift, I'm 59 and look positively athletic. There are two of these lifts but they are identical in size and condition. Both are dirty, have stains all over, floors obviously not cleaned recently, and graffiti scratched onto grubby stainless steel interior.
Doors open on floor for room, horrible scratched flaked paint on all woodwork, corridor no wider than lift. Battered walls and all grubby al the way round.
Room: Big (its standard Double) but that all it got going for it. Carpet old and literally threadbare by bed. Hasn't seen a vacuum cleaner judging by fluff so who knows what else is in the pile, I do not want to walk on it in bare feet at all! bed looks ok but is just two singles joined horizontally. The view from window is magnificent, NOT! Over looking air con ducts and roofing I tried to post pictures but site not accepting Description tags.
TV is a crappy 14 inch CRT and has missing panel from front exposing circuits inside, For goodness sake this is 2014 and at prices charged totally unacceptable..£276 (£3,00 a night to park!!!) for three days.
Window catch broken, room stuffy, whole room is out dated, shabby, and very dubious in cleanliness.
Bathroom, big again, but yuk................... mouldy ceiling in shower, broken fitting in shower with sharp edges, mould on door frame to shower, rusted radiator, stains under both wash basins and behind toilet (!!) I am too fed up to carry on writing, again tried to upload pictures but site wouldn't let me fill in description to post them................avoid this place even if a freebie, its just vile. I am here because I paid in advance through an agency and cannot afford to risk not to get my money back, also after traipsing town for three hours, there is nowhere around with vacancies it seems due to conference in town....
I also see this is part of the Britannia group with places in Manchester where i have also stayed albeit in their glory days in 1990's, now they are same dumps as this, wish I'd realised! Should have read reviews!! this place is the pits.
