“Words fail me. A dump! An expensive dump!”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

Where do I start! Facade, tired and shabby, reception worn. Male receptionist obviously has a cultural difference when it comes to customer service. (Guest pensioner asks if he can get subtitles on his TV as he is a bit deaf, conversation (!) goes as follows:
"no",,,"
"surely you can it's a newish telly?",
"No but I don't know, I'm new here" (Fawlty Towers anybody!! without the charm)...female receptionist of European origin also replies "no you can't"..and they then both ignored the old boy..

Lift to room, ones company two is a damn tight fit, with a suitcase only one will fit if the case isn't more than a cabin bag, and looking at average age of guests they need the lift, I'm 59 and look positively athletic. There are two of these lifts but they are identical in size and condition. Both are dirty, have stains all over, floors obviously not cleaned recently, and graffiti scratched onto grubby stainless steel interior.
Doors open on floor for room, horrible scratched flaked paint on all woodwork, corridor no wider than lift. Battered walls and all grubby al the way round.

Room: Big (its standard Double) but that all it got going for it. Carpet old and literally threadbare by bed. Hasn't seen a vacuum cleaner judging by fluff so who knows what else is in the pile, I do not want to walk on it in bare feet at all! bed looks ok but is just two singles joined horizontally. The view from window is magnificent, NOT! Over looking air con ducts and roofing I tried to post pictures but site not accepting Description tags.
TV is a crappy 14 inch CRT and has missing panel from front exposing circuits inside, For goodness sake this is 2014 and at prices charged totally unacceptable..£276 (£3,00 a night to park!!!) for three days.

Window catch broken, room stuffy, whole room is out dated, shabby, and very dubious in cleanliness.
Bathroom, big again, but yuk................... mouldy ceiling in shower, broken fitting in shower with sharp edges, mould on door frame to shower, rusted radiator, stains under both wash basins and behind toilet (!!) I am too fed up to carry on writing, again tried to upload pictures but site wouldn't let me fill in description to post them................avoid this place even if a freebie, its just vile. I am here because I paid in advance through an agency and cannot afford to risk not to get my money back, also after traipsing town for three hours, there is nowhere around with vacancies it seems due to conference in town....

I also see this is part of the Britannia group with places in Manchester where i have also stayed albeit in their glory days in 1990's, now they are same dumps as this, wish I'd realised! Should have read reviews!! this place is the pits.

I was bitterly disappointed with this hotel. I had stayed in other Britannia hotels in Market Bosworth, Manchester and the Royal Bath in Bournemouth and found them to be to a good standard. Apart from the service , which was acceptable, pretty much everything about this place was bad. First impressions in the lobby were awful: dirty throws over battered sofas and chairs adorned the area. The lift wasn't cleaned for the 3 days of our visit. The "executive" room was grubby with stained carpets etc and needed a complete makeover. The evening meal was awful, breakfast less so. Glad to leave.

Room Tip: Just don't go!

We went to this hotel over the last weekend (Friday to Monday) The hotel was in need of a total update, The carpets in our room was stained and wore, as was the carpet in the rest of the hotel. The food was ok (self Service) breakfast and dinner. No tea or coffee served after dinner you had to go and buy it from the bar. There was entertainment supposed to be on most evenings what did we get none at all.The bar was not to bad bit pricey. All in all it was not too bad but would'nt rush back to book in again. Also another feature of this hotel was the lifts two of them but they would only take two people at once totaly inadequate for a hotel this size.

Room Tip: Take a chance what you get.

Very disappointed with the hotel. It was tired and old looking, the food was terrible. There was no ceiling light and I only had a shower. The only good thing about it was that from 6pm to 9pm Sunday oit was 99p a pint!

I booked a one night stay for two, through Groupon, which included B and B, evening meal, a bottle of wine, fruit basket in the room and use of spa facilities for the amazing price of £39.
5* it was not....but despite the hotel being frayed around the edges the room was clean and spacious and the staff friendly and helpful.
There was plenty of choice for both breakfast and dinner ....and I'm a vegetarian...not haute cuisine but edible. It was centrally located and my friend and I enjoyed a great stay in the area visiting Lyme Regis, Abbotsbury swannery and Christchurch. The only down side were the paper thin walls and noise from other rooms from loud talking to noisy televisions. But despite this minor annoyance a brilliant stay. Thank you.

Room Tip: Request away from lifts and stairs.

Booked 2 night Wowcher deal with one dinner and 2 breakfasts + free bottle of wine and fruit bowl. Extra £3 per night for parking and not enough spaces for size of hotel. The hotel was looking tired and in need of TLC. Carpet in bedroom badly stained. En suite shower room very small. Dinner adequate; but plenty to choose from for breakfast. Would not recommend it but I suppose you get what you pay for!!

My booking was clearly for the Britannia hotel,Bournemouth booked last year on the 1st September.

On arrival 8 months later we were told we were in their sister hotel-the heathland !!!

Was only around the corner but
an email would have been nice!! So my ratings are poor because I didn't stay at this hotel!!

Very poor Britannia hotel group!!!

Room Tip: Try another hotel!!
