Arrived friday about 6,oclock check in very smooth. Not too impressed with the room ,needs refurbishment especially the bathroom.Food choice was good and quality acceptable.Drinks were expensive ,deals on spirit doubles but mixer prices too dear.Entertainment was adequate for the clientel i am 60 and was probably one of the youngest men there!Overall the break was good as the sun was shining and just love bournemouth ,would go back if a cheap deal came up.

Room Tip: Ask for room with a balcony ,and request a bath if needed because we just had a shower in a cubicle

Hi toffeemanMidlands
Thanks for your comments we have just started refurbishing some bathrooms that are looking a bit tired and have just completed some bedrooms. I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Next time you come give us a call and we can make sure we get you a bath no problem at all.

We were struggling to get in anywhere in Bournemouth ahead of the bank holiday - well unless you wanted to pay prices that would cover a fortnight in Orlando. And so we came across the Majestic, clearly a haven or heaven for those of an older age. Was unsure what to expect but, as you might see from reading some of my previous hotel reviews, we are not picky and quite benevolent. However, our cheery smiles faded when we turned up ten minutes to check-in to be told, rather too gleefully, we could not access our room for more than an hour. A glance at the lounge showed everyone was in the same boat. There were boxes everywhere and staff darting around with furniture from beds to chairs. Someone had decided the Friday of the bank holiday weekend was good to take a delivery and sort the refurb. After 40 mins there was relief for some when it was announced those on the first floor - and names were read out - could check in. When it got to 4.20pm I politely asked when the work was done what floor would I be on. Oh joy, I was on the first, except we were left off the list and were spending our valuable time twiddling our thumbs when we could have been in and out! The room was such a surprise.... everything from chairs, bed, wardrobe, table, carpet was brand new and it was the business. Top class. The bathroom, I assume it is next to be worked on, had an ancient bath with ceramic peeling off and stains around the plug hole that left me agonising on whether to use it. No shower. Not good. But you cannot have everything. The food was of good quality, always piping hot, choice of three of each course, and rapid service. Entertainment was not high on our agenda, but low key and unspectacular, ie bingo, quiz and usually a singer. Overall, we really liked the place, and it came at a bargain price, too. It is located a mile out of town but you can be on the cliff tops in five minutes. They charged £5 a day for parking but you need to be quick and book. Alternatively we parked yards from the hotel on the road. Pay and display is in use Monday-Friday but it is free over the weekend. 1b and 1c buses to Bournemouth and Poole (£2.90 return) run from very close to the hotel, on the nearby Christchurch Road, which is situated in a quiet area. So first impressions were not great but we were very happy to be there, and would not hesitate to go back. Oh, must mention we did get an unsolicited apology for the check-in delay and vouchers for four free drinks per person which went down very well. Nice gesture.

Room Tip: We were in room 112 overlooking the front of the hotel, no noise at all. Main room was excellent.

We have started on the bathrooms now but this will take some time to do. I am glad you enjoyed your stay with us and took advantage of what the majestic and Bournemouth has to offer. Thoroughly enjoyed a 5 day break here with Shearings.
We were greeted on arrival by the assistant manager Blanca who was so 'bubbly' which made a good start to the holiday.
Our room was clean and tidy but unfortunately there was a problem with our toilet but afer reporting it to Blanca it was soon sorted.
The food was excellent and there was plenty to eat at both breakfast and dinner.
The trips were good and we were pleased we went on the optional excursion of the Portsmouth tour.
Would recommend this hotel.

Just returned from a Shearings 5 day break at this hotel.
What a lovely friendly place to stay.
From the moment we arrived to the banter we had on leaving the hotel staff were so helpful. The food was really excellent. Not just for a package holiday, but by any standard.
There was ample choice at breakfast and dinner and the food was nicely presented and piping hot.Our waitress Paula Arias was super efficient and caring. On her night off one of the bedroom staff, a young man called Gonzalo deputised excellently.
Our room,no.204 on the 2nd floor was bright and spotlessly clean. It overlooked the outside swimming pool and a tree lined boulevard and was nice and quiet through the night.
The room was a twin bedded room and the only minor down side to the whole Majestic experience was the not very comfortable beds. They were rather well used///.But that is griping just for the sake of it.
This hotel is great. The evening entertainment was good without being spectacular.
The bus stop witha frequent bus service to Bournemouth is only 2 minutes walk from the hotel.
If you are going to Bournemouth and want a decent hotel look no further.
We look forward to going back for a longer stay.Well done Shearings and ALL the staff at the Majestic. It was a pleasure to stay with you.

Room Tip: Room 204 overlooking the swimming pool suited us just fine.

With a good sized room and nice clean bedding even the tea coffee tray was nicely presented. Such a pity that the cleaning staff do not appear to have been trained properly and that they are obviously not supervised, skirting boards and any ledges appear to be ignored the outside surround of the shower was disgusting. The shower support rail was loose and if the shower had been cleaned this would have been noticed and should have been reported by the staff . Even more surprising was the dirt in a number of public areas, especially the ground floor public toilet by the quiet room. I thought that it was a new pattern on the tiles but it was the grease and dirt that was adhering to them there was also dirt hanging from the ceiling, this is not something that happens in just a few days.
Now I have to say that the food selection , presentation and quality was very good. The entertainment was also very good and appreciated as could be seen by the number of people who stayed till the end of the shows. This was a great holiday but the staff have to get on top of the problems.

Room Tip: The second floor is not to high to climb the stairs to which you really have to do as the lift is ti...
