We have just returned from a very enjoyable stay here at the Hotel Riviera. We stay for 2 nights (3 days) every year and we always return to this hotel.
The rooms are very comfortable and warm- I shared a twin room (17) which had a beautiful view overlooking the sea and the rest of my family had room 16 which also overlooked the sea. The rooms are lovely and quiet- We couldn't hear the wind (more like a tornado!) outside at all. The rooms are rather dated but that didn't bother us as we only ate and slept in the hotel. The food is lovely, a full english breakfast in the morning (with cheesy music in the background!!) and a four course dinner in the evening (with posh cheesy music in the background!) Sam, the waiter did a very good job of keeping every table well served and the chef produced delicious food. If you ever have lamb shank on your menu, I totally recommmend it- the meat is cooked so beautifully and it just falls off the bone. The banoffe pie is gorgeous too!!
The parking is unfortunately limited due to the closeness of surrounding property and you have to give in a spare set of your car keys at reception in case you're not there and your car is blocking someone.
Another amazing point about this hotel is that it provides free passes to the swimming pool/sauna/steam room/gym at the Marriott just down the path and it is worth a visit of you have time!!
So overall, we really enjoyed our stay (as usual) and look forward to returning next year.

Room Tip: Sea views are worth the extra cost!

My partner and I have stayed at either the Hotel Riviera or the Kings Langley for the last 10 years and each time we have been we have had a wonderful holiday. Nothing is too much trouble for the owner John and his brilliant staff. The food is superb and plenty of it and the rooms are very good. We also took my partner's mum who thoroughly enjoyed the warm and friendly hospitality.
As we also say when we come to Bournemouth 'it's like coming home!!'

We have been staying with John and June (Warwick) for over 15 years (Initially at the Kings Langley Hotel). It's a great experience and has a feel of home from home. They and their staff really care about their customers. Many of the staff are family and it shows!

Just got back today from a 3 night stay and just want to go back!!. Sitting out on the bar verandah/balcony watching and listening to the sea is so relaxing. It seems all the people who stay there want a peaceful time with good food. Breakfast is fresh and plentiful (We dont have evening meals but are told they are also excellent).

They are perfectly placed in Westclifff close to the BIC and town. A pleasant walk down the cliff to walk off the breakfast leads to the gardens. Very relaxing!

Open all year round the Riviera and Kings Langley are a great place to stay whatever your agenda.

The Hotel Riviera offers good honest value for money.

If you are looking for an hotel that has an unrivalled position with sea views, access to the downs and to Durley Chine close to the cliff railway and Bournemouth parks this is it.
There is a pretty garden for use by guests - do have a cream tea - delicious.

The bedrooms are clean, the beds comfortable with crisp sheets and clean towels daily. The shower is excellent and there is always plenty of hot water. Most rooms have sea views.

The restaurant is bright and airy. There is a comprehensive breakfast menu - freshly cooked to order. The four course dinner menu is varied, well cooked and generous helpings. There is a mouthwatering choice of puddings/cheese board. There is a good wine list. Coffee is served in the lounge.

This is a family run hotel where every member of the team makes every effort to ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable.

We stayed here June 24-27th, our friends had booked a week here but had to cancel due to illness so we took over the booking for 3 nights.
John, the owner couldn't have made us more welcome and even gave us free dinners to make up for lost nights.
On arrival we were met by a very well mannered young man named Loui, we were shown to a lower ground side room a bit on the small side, but was adequate for the two of us, the room was spotless and although in need of modernisation was made to look as pretty as a picture. A flat screen TV with loads of channels, tea n coffee with plenty of refills, plenty of hanging and drawer space.
The bathroom again was adequate but we noticed a lot of care had been taken to provide a shelf to put all the necessaries on. An absolute boon (take note other hoteliers!)
The Hotel has the best location being on the front with panoramic views out to sea.
The sea view rooms I hear were awesome.
Wonderful for walks along the cliff top, there is a walkway down to the beach, for wheelchair users there is a funicular (free for wheelchair users and their carers) down to the wonderful beach. Blue Flag!!
We went to dinner on our first night and were greeted by the friendly waiter Sam who showed us to our table, we couldn't believe the amount of food that was presented before us, 4 courses and of amazing quality, more likened to an expensive restaurant - how did they do that? Sam helped us choose a great quality wine at an amazing price (we've paid double that at other places) after the dinner my husband ordered the cheese board it was like Xmas all over again. Amazing choices of cheese and so many of them... The service from Sam was impeccable, we couldn't believe his command of the English language (he's from Russia) so crystal clear, nothing was too much trouble for him, he must be worth his weight in gold!
We went to the lounge afterwards where we sat in the comfy chairs and had the special offer of Baileys with ice, my husband had the Tia Maria, a pot of coffee with a pot of hot milk, all for £3 each- where else could you get that?
There is no entertainment at the hotel so we walked along to the Sands Hotel 2 minutes away - open to non residents where we enjoyed their entertainment. They even kept seats for us from the second night, though they were a bit jelous when we told them about the food...
We would go back to the hotel where Louie would make us a nightcap, Bailys and hot chocolate sitting out on the huge balcony at the bar area watching the stars and listening to the sea. Bliss!
Breakfast did not disappoint, great choices, cereals, full English, poached haddock, again Sam being very attentive. His collegue the lovely Brazilion guy was very friendly too
We knew everyone in the hotel after the first night as the guests are so friendly, you can't help but talk to each other, we discovered there were a lot there that have been going there for years, quite a cross section of ages.

I was amazed when I found out that we were able to use the leisure facilities of the Marriott Hotel, with it's indoor and outdoor pool, this place amazes me.
I can tell you we are very discerning travellers, I love my 5 star Hotels, we have just returned from Vegas and New York staying in executive suites in both, but this Riviera Hotel surpasses them both, I never thought I would say this but I enjoyed the friendliest of the staff, the guests, the management so much, I wouldn't give tuppence to the other two in the States.
Well done John, you have done a good job and it shows.
