I first stayed at the sister Hotel (Kings Langley) nearly 9 years ago in early November when I decided to stop on after a conference and sought alternative accomodation , rather than stop on at the over-priced and not very impressive hotel which our group had booked into.
I found the K L by chance after walking up Westcliff Rd. . I was well impressed with the value for money that the hotel offered and spent an enjoyable 3 days there. Three years ago , I decided to re-visit Bournemouth at short notice for a holiday and on telephoning the Kings Langley, was dismayed to be told that it was full. However, I was offered The Riviera and have been stopping there for a fortnight in september ever since. For the last two years , I have also booked in over christmas and new year and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The hotel gives excellent value, the rooms are kept spotlessly clean and the food is far better than some five star hotels I have dined in. John and his family run the hotel in a very relaxed and friendly manner which permeates down to all the staff. This also engenders a sense of friendliness and cameraderie amongst the guests, several of whom have been visiting for many years.I have seen a review on here that says this is a hotel for old people. I would say that undeniably quite a few older people stop there but when they first started going they were 20 , 30 or even 40 years younger, so actually they have grown old together and grown old with the hotel.I will be visiting the Kings Langley for 6 days quite soon and am already booked in to stop at The Rivieria in September and over Christmas and the new year

Room Tip: the top floor sea -facing rooms have fantastic views across the bay to Old Harry rocks

I stayed at the Riviera with a group of golfers for a week. The staff were both friendly and helpful and the food, though not gourmet, was plentiful and well prepared. The whole property was clean and well kept although a little tired in places. We had booked single occupancy for eleven golfers. Of the eleven, nine had comfortable and and relatively spacious rooms with four foot beds. Unfortunately two of the group were located in rooms that were best described as large cupboards. These two consisted a room as wide as a corridoor containing a sinlge bed with a sink on the wall. At the end of the room was a smaller cupboard contaning a toilet and a shower cabinet. The rooms were so narrow that if you stood in the middle and stretched out your arms you could touch both walls. Perhaps we were unlucky but it did take the shine of the trip for two of us.

Our stay at this hotel was brilliant. The staff were very friendly and competent. The breakfast was very good and the service at breakfast excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. The evening food both in the bar and the restaurant was superb and value for money. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The dog also enjoyed his stay.

Room Tip: If travelling with a dog room 4 is great with the balcony.

We have stayed at the Hotel Riviera for over 20 years now (having seen off 2 previous owners!!) and have always had a really great holiday.
We have noticed that, over the years, people have opted for Bed & Breakfast only and we find that this is really odd for Mark, the chef, produces some really wonderful meals every day and, it seems to us, to be irrational that anyone should go out to find sustenance when there is really wonderful food (and plenty of it) to be had at the hotel.
Mark has been at the hotel for a great number of years and always produces the odd surprise (and great ones at that) but the food is always of excellent quality which far exceeds the star rating of the hotel. So if you are going to the Hotel Riviera be sure to book for the delights of Half Board and you will not be disapponted.

Room Tip: If you can get one the bay front rooms provide excellent space and views.

We have been visiting the Hotel Riviera for many years and on each occasion we have had an excellent time. The staff are very friendly, all the rooms are very clean and the food is excellent.
We have already booked again for next new year and if possible will try to visit during the summer as well. An excellent hotel and well managed.
