Visited here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our hotel recommended it as one of 3 worth trying in Dorchester. Menu on-line might be mis-leading as the menu on the day was very different, even allowing for the fact that the fish choice is a Specials menu.

Decor was good. Tables were well spaced so private conversation was possible. Plenty of staff who were friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and properly trained in taking orders, serving food, and clearing tables.

We thought the food was excellent - carpaccio of beef and scallops was delicious although rather over done with rocket and parmesan. My wife had roasted sea bass and I had roasted plaice both cooked with herbs and lemon. No sauce to disguise the fish, just the taste of fresh fish. Good value accompaniments too. Definitely worth finding, but not a great place if you only want meat.

Had wanted to go here for a while since moving to the area. The service is very good, the decor is quirky and the meal itself could only be described as average. The menu promised a lot but the starter of crab bake was very forgettable followed by a piece of fish which had far too much sauce masking the flavour, even though the menu said fish was cooked simply. The dessert saved the day and if i were to return it would be for this. I felt that the food was also rather expensive and overall was rather disappointed.

Took my daughter out for lunch here after it was recommended by some of her friends. Worst meal for a long time. Ordered the king scallops which comprised of what appeared to be one scallop thinly sliced and scattered amongst a pile of large, unappealing salad leaves. This at the princely charge of £9.95! My daughter struggled through an unimaginative casserole dish of a similar high price. I travel widely and eat out a lot and so stunned by the terrible standard and the nerve to charge such prices. Avoid!

This is a great restaurant that has a limited menu (always a good sign) of fresh food - lovely fish and special dishes of the day. We were a party of three and had mains of boeuf bourguignonne, hake with sour cream and a pasta dish (specially made without onions for my father-in-law) - they were all delicious. Our starters included the 'best ever' oysters, scallops and prawns and mackerel pate - all beautifully presented and very tasty. There was no room for puddings which all looked great, again they were all made freshly. The service was excellent and the bill, which included a bottle of wine, was very reasonable for such a great meal in lovely surroundings

My husband an I had a fantastic meal here. We both had fish and it was cooked to perfection. All the staff were very nice and nothing was too much trouble. It made our weekend away very special.
