We have eaten at Thai Nakorn several times over the last twelve months or so and always enjoyed great food and a friendly welcom.

Most recently we had the set lunch. I chose the squid rings to start - the batter was beautifully thin and crispy and cooked perfectly, served with a sweet chilli dipping sauce. My wife had the Thai fish cakes, also delicious and with exactly the same texture they have in Thailand.

For the main course my wife had a green curry with chicken - very good, even though I am not generaly a great green curry fan I did like this one as it was very fragrant and the chef has a light hand with the coconut cream. I went for a duck dish - pad prik pao. This really was outstanding, spicy with chilli and aromatic with herbs and was a real taste of Bangkok.

The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is the most authentic we have found for many miles around, and the dining room is nicely decorated - the furniture is beautiful with intricate wood carvings set into the tables.

So if you are anywhere near Dorchester and you like authentic Thai food, give Thai Nakorn a try, I am sure you will enjoy it as much as we do!

I believe this Thai restaurant ‘Thai Nakorn’ changed hands just over a year ago and it now offers an exciting and fresh alternative to eating out in Dorchester. The most exquisite selection of mouth watering delights awaits you. Consider forgetting conventions and instead of ordering your usual favourites take a leap of faith into the unknown (which is what I did) and ask your host Kittima for some recommendations. Your voyage of Thai discovery starts from that point on and you may discover a whole new range of dishes that will become your new Thai favourites!

Presentation: The elegant presentation of the starter selection is simply stunning. I wanted to eat the beautifully carved ornamental vegetables as well as the starters themselves!

Fresh and locally sourced: Kittima and husband Chef Nai insist on using only locally sourced ingredients with all their meat, poultry and fish coming from Dorset local producers. The only exception to this is their Duck which is having to come from Thailand until they can find a local producer that breeds a Duck with as little fat in it as the Thai ones (If you know someone tell them!) Everything is freshly cooked and prepared in-house; even the sauces are made on the day to Nai’s own special recipes and are delicious.

A bit special: Chef Nai has a number of speciality dishes but one that has to be tried is his duck in tamarind sauce which is one the best I’ve ever tasted. Another ‘must try’ if you like a little Thai spice, is the fragrant and captivating chicken green curry. I actually heard myself saying “wow” under my breath as I tried the first mouthful – It has been a while since Thai food has invoked such an involuntary expression of delight as the subtle and complementary flavours danced with my taste buds.

Lunchtime bargains: The Thai Nakorn restaurant is offering a 1 course ‘express’ lunch for an amazingly low at around £5 per person or a 2 course set lunch for about £8.00 perfect for that business meeting while you eat or just catching up with friends.

I have now eaten at Thai Nakorn many times over the last year, and have always been delighted with the food and the friendly service. I have noticed it has started getting a little busier these days as word spreads about them being a bit of a find!

Happy eating!! Park for FREE after 6.00PM in the Top of town car park, 1-2 mins walk up the hill from Thai Nakorn

We ate in an almost empty restaurant on a Sunday evening from Set Menu B at £22.95 each, preceded by a gin and flat tonic and a few burnt prawn crackers that tasted heavily of pepper. The soup was strongly flavoured. After this, we needn't really have bothered with the wine, which could have been most cold liquids. However, the remainder of the substantial meal was delicious.

We cam here as another restuarant had le us down and we were not dissapointed, warmly greeted we had our drinks and were overwhelmed with the menu. We chose a king prawn and chicken starter which were both really really tasty huge prawns and for main we chose a curry although the choise was good, they even catered for my fussy husband by taking the veg out. The curry was quite expensive though at approx £9 ex rice/noodles. Service was good although we were not offered drinks and had to go and had to ask at the bar for more. Overall great atmosphere and lovely food, could have done with some background music though.
