“Always good”
Reviewed 22 September 2013

Come here quite often for lunch or tea and cake at weekends. Always have good food. Cakes are huge and delicious. Service is good. Great value for money.

“A light snack at lunchtime - no problem!”
Reviewed 22 September 2013

My experience confirms the excellent reviews here. I only wanted a coffee and teacake at lunchtime, and whereas many snooty places would disdain such a request, this one met it with a smile, good food and excellent service. The tables are rather chunky and the stairs to the larger room on the first floor (and toilets) are steep, but if that's no bother, you would go a long way to find better light refreshment. The menu looks interesting from a quick glance, and so did the food!

“Still good 25 years later”
Reviewed 22 September 2013

I knew this place 25 years ago and it is still as good as it was then. Just a suggestion. To move on a level they need to decide when they shut. We visited at 4.30 pm and felt a little that they were waiting for us to finish in order to shut. A good cafe can surely welcome you until 6pm. A little gem nonetheless.
