i stayed in this hotel with my partner and children. the room we had was extremely spacious for a family room and very clean. you could see that the rooms have been refurbished recently and to a high standard. Over all we had a fabulous stay from when we checked in to eating in the restaurant and breakfast. The staff are very helpful and nhothing is too much trouble. Maria on the desk is an excellant asset to the hotel and the head house keeper Rachael is very efficiant. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK LADIES.

Room Tip: all of them

The rooms at the very top of the hotel are very hot but this is a nice hotel right in the ventre of Dorchester, and Laterooms gave me a good deal so I'd use it again if I was in the area

Booked this as a last minute break on Sun 3rd June after checking the TA reviews decided against booking the 2nd as well. We recieved a rate of £100 for the Morgan Yeatman suite and set off in trepidation!!!! What a lovely suprise! There is NOTHING wrong with this hotel and we have stayed in some awfull hotels which have had much better reviews and cost much more. Booking - gr8, Tracyvery honest and helpfull, sent email conf immediatly. Parking - there are 11 spaces and we got one of them. Reception - room was not quite ready so had a beer in the bar. Room ready in 10 mins. Room - the MY suite is lush! Plenty on room, seperate lounge, large bathroom, all very clean and tastefully decorated. Didnt eat in hotel that evening, went to Prezzo which was rubish. Slept well, you can get plenty of air flowing through the room. Really good breakfast. The top pojnt of the hotel is the staff. They get it just about right without being ott or in your face. Very helpfull and its nice just having normal conversations with them. Perhaps this suffers from a bit of vindictiveness by another local hotel on here. Dont know, but its a far far better hotel than the reviews state. Give it a go!!!!

As a bridesmaid for my best friend's wedding we chose to stay at the hotel as this is where the bride had chosen to stay. We felt that it would be worth the high room rate to be close by, and thought at the time that the rate would indicate the quality of the hotel. To our disappointment it did not!
Our room was extremely noisy, being at the bottom of some stairs on a creaky corridor so we heard every single person passing by no matter how light-footed.
Our toilet seat was broken, so that when I sat down I slid to one side, bruising one hip and pulling the muscle in the other - extremely painful considering I was over 8 months pregnant! Our bed sheets on the first night were covered in little black hairs so we had to sleep on top of the covers. When we complained the next day, the safe did fix the toilet seat and change the sheets, but this somehow did not seem to make up for our first horrendous night in the hot and pokey room!
On our second night the handle to our bathroom door got stuck and locked us out, with the night porter having to leave us with a chisel as means to enter the toilet - again, being so heavily pregnant, the ensuite bathroom was quite necessary for our stay! Again, though a mumbled apology was offered at the time, there seemed to be no genuine attempt to compensate for the situation.
Down in the bar on one night my husband and a friend both complained about the quality of the pints of Guiness they ordered - which did not appear to look right - they were rudely told by the barmaid, well that's how it is so bring it back only if it tastes bad - to find that later that the bar had chosen to stop serving Guiness - so others had obviously also complained - although my husband was not reimbursed for his pint!!
Other than all this, the breakfast was fine, although basic and the staff (well most) were friendly. However, I do not think that we were staying in a room worth £109 a night and would certainly NOT recommend it to others.

Room Tip: I think there are some nice bigger rooms - the standard double we stayed in was awful in comparison!

Stayed for 1 night in May. Had 2 lovely rooms on the 3rd floor. Nice and spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable. Very good breakfast - full English and a buffet of cereals and fruit. Reception staff was very friendly and helpful, gave us directions to a lovely pub for dinner and some ideas for things to see and do in the area.
Only things to point out are parking - only a few spaces available in the parking lot so we parked on the road overnight for free. May be a problem on a busier weekend. Also, floors are very creaky (to be expected in an old building) but may disturb people on lower floors. Luckily we were in top floor so it was fine.
Overall, great night!
