as the final stand against the romans ,this fort holds the drama associated with imperial conquest sedately in amongst the ramparts and sheep who now regularly graze there.
a car park is a significant distance from the monument but the effort of climbing up is a reward as the view of the surrounding town and rolling hills show why the fort was placed here as a defendable position.
as the largest of the bronze age hill forts , it is a must visit for those interested in ancient history.

Make sure that you read up on the history before and then take a brisk walk around the Iron Aged ramparts. You need to understand that this is really a shaped hill rather than an actual structure and what you get to enjoy are the views and the exposure to the weather rather than a structured experience.

Me and partner walked our dog around this beautiful place; amazing views of Dorchester and countryside! The sheep are also very entertaining I must say this place, although beautiful, did not possess a great deal of historical viewing but it is extremely pretty and a pleasant walk on a Sunday afternoon.

Im sorry but essentially its a hill with banks and sheep. Its a good healthy walk around the outer perimeter with lovely views of the countryside, but thats about it.

Wonderful Bank Holiday morning walk; the drizzle and the sheep and the views. Really replenishes the soul!
