We booked through Expedia and on arrival were unable to access the hotel. Nobody answered the doorbell or the phone. I called Expedia and spent over an hour on the phone attempting to cancel the booking. They finally got through to the owner who claimed to have been in all day. In total we wasted most of the day with three small kids trying to sort it out. The room was shabby and the bedding dirty. Stay at home and save yourselves the bother.

Myself and a friend were very late in booking a room to stay for the night after a wedding nearby. We stayed in a twin bedroom which was very simple, no frills but had everything we needed - it was clean, had fresh towels, tea making things and toiletries etc.

If you want a very quiet weekend retreat this may not be the place for you but if, like us, you want to have a fantastic night out with lots of very fun people and be able to walk thirty seconds to your room then I totally recommend staying at the George! We got back from the wedding just after midnight and spent the rest of the evening drinking, singing and dancing with the friendliest group of people we could have met! Also, having come from London, drinks were super cheap.

We had to leave quite early the next morning to drive home so didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that but we had such a great night. The lady who owns the B&B is lovely and made us feel very comfortable during our stay.

Reasonable Hotel and value, responses to emails as part of the booking process were a bit on the slow side at times. Breakfast was OK, tho' a bit later than we'd hoped for.

Room Tip: Try to keep away from the rooms facing the church - the bells ring late into the night.

We had booked and paid for our room online and got a confirmation back confirming our booking. Therefore we were very suprised to find the George closed and no amount of ringing the door bell got somebody to open up. When we phone their number all we got was an answer phone message. We were at a loss as to what to do next . Luckly we have relative in Dorchester and when we got there and explained our prediciment one of the knew the Landlord of the Junction who offered a room at short notice. We were luck to have relatives if we hadn´t we would have been left looking into a darkend George and a dash to find alternative acommidation. There for i would not recommend the George to anybody and am still waiting for an apolgy for the inconvience they have caused us.

Where do I start, on arrival only one of our two rooms booked were ready. The twin room was dark and dingy with a shower tucked in the corner, no privacy what so ever and it looked nothing like the photo in the brochure. My teenage daughter and her friend were not happy. I went to use the WC along the corridor, no toilet paper! What a start. We looked into the double room whilst we were waiting and first impressions were very grim, stains on the carpet, dark and definitely not very welcoming. Walked into the on suite bathroom to be met by a dripping tap in the old looking, tired bath. There were no signs of a shower head, so I guess that was it. Again, nothing like the pictures I saw beforehand. My heart had sunk by now, I wanted to check out, but unfortunately time was against us and we were expected at a friend’s venue. Our room became available and I was expecting the worse. As it turned out they had given us the family room. It was the best one! It had a double bed and 2 twins. It was light and airy and overlooked the main road. Again it did not match the photo’s I had seen. On returning to our room later that night and settling down to sleep, we were kept awake by 2 taxi drivers below chatting away to each other to at least 3.30am! Outside was the local taxi stop! This was topped by the Iceland burglar alarm going off at 5.50am. So overall it was not a very pleasant stay. The staff was friendly, but nothing would make me stay there again, save your money. The whole B&B side needs to be completely up dated.
