We visited the Inn for the Monday Curry night where there are a range of curries served for £9.95 a head on an as much as you can eat basis.
We hadn't booked and a table of 16 had just been admitted. Our extremely friendly and accommodating waitress suggested that we should take a table immediately and to get startled before the larger party had done so. We did and were quickly served with the starter of poppadoms, relishes and onion bhajis. These were freshly made and very well flavoured.
We then visited the curry buffet to find five different curries and one vegetarian curry. All of these were made from scratch and were authentic in taste and included korma, madras, keema, passanda and tikka masala curries. They had good quantities of meat and vegetables in each dish. We didn't need to make a second visit to the buffet as the meal was substantial at first visit.
For dessert we had a very creative and appropriate home made fudge and fruit fondu with chilli chocolate sauce. We thought that this was a master stroke and thoroughly delightful.
The one minus point was in respect of the excellent Australian Viognier which was not chilled and failed to become chilled on this very warm evening. However, the service from the three waitresses was so charming and full of smiles that we added a bonus point to negate the warm wine.
Curry night at the Martyr's Inn is not to be missed!
