“A great holiday park in an excellent location.”
Reviewed 24 August 2013

We have just returned from a weeks stay at Morn Gate holiday park which we booked at the last minute. The caravan was clean, modern and cosy. My two children aged 12 and 8 throughly enjoyed the play area with slide and sand pit. The location is excellent for going out days for example weymouth, west bay, monkey world all within a half hour drive. When we returned to the caravan at night it was peaceful, yes you can here the road noise but it really didnt bother us. We had a lovely view of the countryside from our caravan and would love to return in the near future.

Morn gate is a holiday park between West Bay and Weymouth and is located well for visiting Dorset! A little away from coast but easy drive to most places. Lodges are basic with basic facilities. Fairly clean ( a few cobwebs to be found) but a good base for touring. Take everything yourself thou as nothing provided- washing up liquid, toilet roll etc. Owners / managers helpful with local knowledge.

My parents just spent a week (May 2013) at Morn Gate Holiday Park in one of their Chalet. Polite and friendly reception, nice holiday feeling in the chalet. Everything went smoothly. Their is everything needed for a self accommodation and the prices are reasonable. Will book again from Morn Gate.

We had a reasonably good time at Morn gate (May 2013), however a few things let it down and did spoil our stay to some extent.

Good points:-
Nice central location for Dorset.
25 Mins from Monkey world / Tank museum
Small childrens play area and garden area (gardens well cared for)
The park itself is quiet*
Weekly rental price is reasonable

Bad points
*Borders a very fast and noisy A road - avoid the first row of lodges if you want a good nights sleep - no double glazing means you hear every vehicle go past.
Gas is free but Electricity is metered (requires £1 coins)
Water is undrinkable - its "safe to drink" but tastes bad due to the chalky limescale as its pumped from 220ft below the park. (supplied kettle was completely gunked up with limescale so had to be scrubbed and eventually we resorted to buying bottled water)
Absolutely no frills - no bin bag / toilet roll / dishcloth - it would have been so much better if these inexpensive items had been included.
No bed covers etc - you have to bring your own sheets / duvet covers and towels.
The lodge was a little dirty in areas (dusty / cobwebs) although the kitchen/bathroom were well cleaned.

Summary:
A nice location with good views to the rear, however can be let down by road noise and some unnecessary penny pinching.

Room Tip: Ask for accomodation away from the roadside

would advise other people to try it. very central for dorset it self and only minutes to coast.

Room Tip: caravans well worth booking

Lovely quiet park in the heart of Dorset. Great for families wanting a quiet break with ease of access to the best Dorset has to offer.

We don't normally rent, as we have a motor home, but we took Mother here for a break. It is a really friendly, small, owner run park. Nothing is too much trouble, and they are really helpful.
We are returning again this year, and would recommend it, especially if you want somewhere quiet and peaceful.
