What an absolute gem of a place. The staff are amazing - our waiter Joel and his colleagues provided the most friendly and professional service. The views of the sunset over the fields was spectacular and so relaxing. Our meals were outstanding. The salt and pepper squid was served on a bed of noodles and stir fried vegetables and just the perfect amount of spice and flavour. If you come here you must try the wild boar and apple faggots served with mash, onion rings and sweet gravy - it was absolutely delicious. For desert we had the lemon tart with summer fruit coulis and chantilly cream which was divine and the cheese board selection was stunning. Cannot wait to come back to this place - thanks for a perfect evening.

Popped for the first time for a couple of years and enjoyed the crab salad very much. Generous crab, well dressed mixed salad and large bowl of chips. Hard decision with Proper Job and Tribute staring at me, the former won and was perfect. Attentive service, good value all round.

Now looking forward to the carvery.

The meal was just OK, expensive for what you got, the waiter was not very helpful with the wine, we had to send the first bottle of Red wine back as it was to cold.

Spent theee days staying here visiting family in Dorset . It's a pretty spot and we have dined here before . The kitchen know their stuff : really tasty prawns in garlic butter , excellent rib-eye and the fish& chips can't be faulted . Beer on tap includes two excellent IPAs and there is a decent wine list -and all supported by a youthful and enthusiastic and capable team .
Much the same can be said of the cooked breakfast - one of the few kitchens turning out really good scrambled eggs . The only criticism here is the real lack of any fresh fruit or bakery .
The accommodation is clean but , in our room the mattresses were sagging and were due for renewal , and on two out of our three mornings there was no hot water - a cold shower can be invigorating but shaving by boiling a kettle is not ideal . We appreciated this is not a hotel but some things are essential. To be fair , after commenting on the lack of hot water the situation was resolved by the second morning only to disappear for the second time on the third day.
We would dine here again - the hospitality is really good - but we might stay near at hand to be a little more comfortable
