We stayed with Caroline and family for a romantic weekend on the South Coast. The property is very beautiful and wonderfully appointed, this very much matching the warmth and friendliness of Caroline. The room was large, comfy and we slept in grand comfort under the canopy of a four post bed. Our fine experience continued with breakfast which was freshly cooked and very tasty.

It was a great place to rest whilst walking at Lulworth Cove or swimming in the sea at Eype. Just brilliant, please stay here!

Room Tip: For that added luxury make sure you book the Dorchester Room.

As regulars to The Old Rectory we have stayed in each of the rooms and all of them are beautifully presented and very comfortable. Breakfast is always delicious.
On our last visit we were delighted when Caroline and Gordan allowed us to 'test drive'the Weymouth room in The Old School House that they have lovingly renovated to an extremely high standard to be a self catering facility or additional B & B rooms. The Weymouth room is a comfortable double with an additional single bed for a child, and an ensuite bathroom with the luxury of both bath and separate shower cubicle. The Lyme Regis room is another comfortable double with ensuite bathroom. There is an open plan kitchen, dining living room and a sunny courtyard garden. It is an ideal location with the beautiful sites of the Jurassic coast right onthe doorstep. We had a very comfortable stay and as B & B guests enjoyed our usual breakfast in the main house. Caroline and Gordan are very kind and generous hosts and always look after us, and all of their guests with great kindness and courtesy. We highly recommend The Old Rectory and the newly renovated Old School House.

Room Tip: The Abbotsbury room has to be the favourite as the Four poster bed is amazingly comfortable and the room is very spacious with an elegant bathroom.

The highlight of our 2013 'Dorset Tour'.
We had two wonderful nights with a gracious, charming and friendly hostess.

Caroline was helpful and knowledgeable with useful hints about local attractions.
The Old Rectory is ideally placed for exploring Abbotsbury and Corfe and Dorchester etc. etc.

We stayed in the ‘Dorchester’ room and, as previous reviewers have said, the four-poster was enormous and comfortable.
Such a tranquil location, we slept like the proverbial logs.

The room, and the house, are decorated with care and a discerning eye and spotlessly clean.

A well-cooked breakfast was taken in the very pleasant conservatory – really set us up for the day.

Importantly for us, there is ample and uncomplicated off-road car-parking space.

As recommended by Caroline, we dined at ‘La Caverna’ in Dorchester – wonderful food and an idiosyncratic and personable chef in Franco - book to avoid disappointment!
We also dined at ‘The Brewers Arms’ in Winterbourne St Martin (Martinstown) – a 3 minute drive (1.3 miles) with good 'posh' pub-grub and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Amazing house, rooms and delicious english breakfast set in lovely gardens - Caroline could not have been more helpful in accommodating us, even letting us collect the key and drop our bags off a day before.

We stayed in November 2012 in a room with a four poster bed and a luxurious bathroom. The room was grand and very comfortable with views over a beautiful garden though which it was possible on occasions to see wild deer and squirrels wandering around.

The hosts are super friendly and helpful. If you don't know the area they can offer advice on whats around and what too do. And the choice is great. The village and house are completely peaceful relaxing and pleasant. It is a great launch pad for walking or cycling around the Dorset countryside. If you have a car, then it is really easy to get to the historic towns of Dorchester, Bridport, Weymouth and even West Bay where Broadchurch was filmed. Also within easy driving distance are miles of Jurasic Coast, beaches and Picturesque villages and pubs.

The full English breakfast was ample, faultless and unhurried in a beautiful conservatory. Overall, excellent value for money in a place which is tranquil, picturesque and perfect for a relaxing break, whatever the time of year.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Dorchester room and couldn't fault it. Their website is very accurate and give a fair reflection of the house and area.
