“The Old Rectory feels like one of those venues that you only see on TV!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 November 2009

We arrived late in the day after a long drive from London, and we were greeted like old friends, refreshments laid on straight away.

The place has a great feel very relaxing, and full of charm.

A great find, well worth a visit, even if you were not planning to go to Doset.

We'll be going back again, hopefully not just for business!!

Classical, clean, very comfortable and amazing breakfast. Caroline was very hospitable and nothing was too much for her. I can honestly say, I had the best nights sleep I've had in a long time, and would like to thank Caroline, and her family for allowing us into their home and treating us like royalty.

Words will not describe the warm feelings I have about this place but here goes. Even before we arrived Caroline made it her personal mission to ensure my team and I were well looked after. On arrival I was simply stunned by the overall beauty of the place but don’t be fooled by the word overall. There is nothing overall about it – it’s all about the detail. You get a true sense of feeling that not only have the rooms been designed to the highest standard (not just saying that) but the service has also been tailored to meet our needs (and trust me my team and I are not always the easiest). We will be back down on a regular basis to the area and without a doubt will be returning.

Caroline makes the tastiest fry up's in the morning, got a free upgrade of our room, the place was spotless, could not have enjoyed our stay more. Caroline gave us some great tips on where to have a look around the area, let us use her oven to cook a pizza when we didn't want to venture out for dinner - probably because the room was sooo nice. Top marks all-round, and would happily recommend this as THE place to stay in Dorset.

Nice layout of old rectory. Good choice of pubs within 5 miles. idyllic spot. Very nice hostess, has a homely feel about it. Handy for lots of locations in and around the Dorset county.

So glad we discovered this gem on the internet. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay in this lovely country B & B. The house has been tastefully refurfished and the rooms comfortable and spotlessly clean. We were warmly welcomed by Caroline, provided with all the local knowledge that we were interested in and what a delicious breakfast she presented to us. The atmosphere of the house is warm and friendly and we would highly recommend The Old Rectory to anyone.Thank you Caroline for your excellent hospitality.

We were greeted with a warm welcome and we were made to feel very much at home throughout our stay. Our room - although described as the smallest in the house - was perfect and bigger than some we've stayed in! Everything was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Carloline's full English breakfast was delicious and there was cereal, yoghurt, fruit and bread to help ourselves to had we had the room. We found Caroline and Gordon's local knowledge very useful especially their restaurant recommendation - we only had time to visit the Greyhound where we enjoyed a first class meal at reasonable prices. The traditional stone house has been lovingly restored and is in a pretty and peaceful location with many beautiful natural sights within easy reach.
