we just got back from a week's stay at these converted barn cottages in a lovely part of Dorset.
The cottages are in a fantastic location, a couple of miles from Dorchester, but in a rural setting near Thomas Hardy's house and overlooking woods and fields.
The old barns have been converted into cottages, some with private gardens and some with a shared garden. We stayed in one with the shared garden which was fantastic for our three year old as all the other cottages but one had toddlers in too - so they all had a great time rampaging around the garden - I felt a bit sorry for the couple in the middle cottage hoping to have a quiet time!!! My advice would be avoid the shared garden if you done have children!!
The cottages are ok inside - i bit chintzy and in need of doing up. The kitchen was adequate but could have done with a bit of money spending on it - as could the whole place really....
The swimming pool was great although the sauna didnt seem to work and the fitness room consisted of a broken looking excercise bike and a running machine - a bit differnt to the pictures on the website!
On the whole, great location, great for kids, nice and quiet but needs a bit of TLC!!
